<p>A Chinese woman, with the history of domestic violence, was set on fire while she was live streaming on a social media platform.</p>

<p>The woman, identified as Lamu, was a famous influencer at Douyin, China's version of TikTok, and had hundreds of thousands of followers.</p>

<p>As per police reports, Lamu's ex-husband had&nbsp;allegedly broken into her house armed with a knife and petrol with clear intentions of harming her. At this point, Lamu was live streaming to her audience at Douyin when he forced his way through her house.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She has&nbsp;suffered burns on 90 per cent&nbsp;of her body and died two weeks after the attack.</p>

<p>The local media reports stated that the screens on the live stream went pitch black soon after the live streaming started.</p>

<p>Her ex-husband has also been accused of domestic violence in the past. Her brother-in-law told the local media that Lamu's ex-husband had earlier also been beaten up Lamu.&nbsp;The tangled couple have two children together, and each of them got one child each in the divorce.</p>

<p>Later, he had threatened to kill one child if she didn't re-marry him, to which she bowed down but ran away from his home later.</p>

<p>She had been hiding somewhere and the ex-husband, identified as Tang, had been asking about her whereabouts from her relatives.</p>

<p>Lamu's brother-in-law, identified as Mr Luo, said he had heard his wife "mention that her sister was often beaten by Tang".</p>

<p>The family members also revealed that they had earlier too informed the local police about this, but no action was taken from their side.</p>

<p>The incident happened on September 14, and the woman has now succumbed to her injuries.</p>

<p>After a study carried out by United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency (UNFPA), has estimated that more than 47 million women across 114 low-income nations will not access modern contraceptions if the pandemic continues for next six months.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to researchers, it is predicted that there will be seven million unintended pregnancies and 31 million cases of gender-based violence.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dr Natalia Kanem, executive director of the UNFPA, said: “This new data shows the catastrophic impact that Covid-19 could soon have on women and girls globally. The pandemic is deepening inequalities, and millions more women and girls now risk losing the ability to plan their families and protect their bodies and their health.</p>

<p>“Women’s reproductive health and rights must be safeguarded at all costs. The services must continue, the supplies must be delivered and the vulnerable must be protected and supported.”</p>

<p>At least 4,093 people were arrested from across London for domestic abuse offences -- nearly 100 a day on an average -- during the coronavirus lockdown in the UK. The period accounted for here is from March 9 till April 19.</p>

<p>The Metropolitan Police has revealed that charges and cautions have increased by 24 per cent since March 9, when people with COVID-19 symptoms were asked to self-isolate, compared to last year.</p>

<p>Domestic incidents have seen a 3 per cent increase since last year and jumped by 9 per cent between March 9 and April 19.</p>

<p>The Met Police gave examples of some of the cases it has dealt with in recent weeks, including one in which police discovered that a man reported by a victim was linked to firearms.</p>

I learned to not value any of my property-replaceable and irreplaceable. I learned not to value myself."The 31-year-old actor finally took action when she suffered major injuries due to her partner threw an iPhone at her face. She continued," The impact tore my iris, nearly ruptured my eyeball, lacerated my skin and broke my nose, my left eye swelled shut. I had a fat lip ... Something inside of me broke, this was too far.<br />

"Benoist finally decided to leave the relationship, after a discussion with a friend, she said in the video that Leaving such a relationship was not a walk in the park. It is not an event, it's a process. <p>Tens of thousands of people took to the streets of Paris and other French cities on Saturday to protest against domestic violence, after more than 130 women are believed to have been killed by their partner or ex-partner in France this year.</p>

<p>In Paris, the mostly female activists chanted "Abuser, you've had it, women are in the street" and held purple placards bearing the names of female victims and slogans such as "not another murder more". Purple is a symbolic colour used by the women's rights movement.</p>

<p>President Emmanuel Macron expressed his solidarity after the end of the protest.</p>

<p>"I give my support to every woman who has experienced gender-based or sexual violence. Count on me to continue the mobilisation of the government and the entire nation in this great cause," he said on Twitter.</p>

<p>Some 35,000 people participated in the march in Paris, police said.</p>

<p>The #NousToutes association, which organised the protests, estimated the turnout much higher at 100,000 in Paris and 150,000 across France.</p>

<p>The demonstrations took place two days before the government is due to publish the results of an investigation into domestic violence.</p>

<p>The government is also set to announce a series of new measures aimed at protecting women, the Justice and Interior Ministers and the Secretary of State for Gender Equality said in a joint opinion piece in Le Parisien daily on Saturday.</p>

<p>"We can and we should do better," they wrote.</p>

<p>A Council of Europe expert group on domestic violence (GREVIO) said this week France needed to offer better protection for victims and their children and more effective anti-violence measures.</p>

<p>"We cannot continue to accept that women are being murdered today with total impunity. The state must do its job to guarantee the security of all women in this country," #NousToutes activist Karine Plassard told Reuters in Paris.</p>
