Taiwan is set to host mega Diwali celebration that is being sponsored by the Taiwanese government and will see the participation of representation by government. The Diwali celebration will take place in the Taiwanese capital Taipei and is being organised by Taipei India Music and culture centre and Indians in Taiwan group. Deputy Taiwan Foreign Minister Tien Chung Kwang will be present at the celebrations.

Recently engagement between India and Taiwan have increased in terms of societal interaction. On Taiwan National Day, strong support was seen in India angering Chinese Embassy. Taiwanese president Tsai ing-wen had tweeted about Indian dishes and said her favourite food being Chana Masala and Naan. She also recalled her India visit, what she termed as "memories of a vibrant, diverse &amp; colorful country."

The increased societal interaction comes even as China has been aggressive with both India and Taiwan this year. With India, the line of actual control row has been the worst Chinese build-up while with Taiwan, Chinese jets have been breaching the Taiwan strait median line that separates Taiwan from China.

Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who celebrated Diwali with soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri, has sent out a message that everyone should celebrate festivals with those who serve us.

Calling it an "inspiring act", Javadekar told ANI, "Every year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaches out to the soldiers on the border in various front areas. It is a very innovative, and more importantly a very inspiring activity by the Prime Minister. This is a message for all of us that we should celebrate festivals with those who serve us. This is for the sixth year he is celebrating Diwali like this."

He continued, "This not only boosts the morale of the security forces but also gives ethical teaching of working with everybody who makes our lives easy. I am very sure these actions of Prime Minister Modi are changing India rapidly."

Prime Minister Modi on Sunday celebrated Diwali with personnel of Indian Army in Rajouri district along the Line of Control (LoC).

Clad in Army colours, the Prime Minister, accompanied by Army Chief General Bipin Rawat and Northern Army Commander Lieutenant-General Ranbir Singh greeted the soldiers and served them sweets on the auspicious occasion.

Modi also addressed the soldiers, thanking them for their service and talked about major steps being taken by the government for their welfare.

The Prime Minister also exchanged Diwali greetings with the Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel at Pathankot Air Force Station.

Last month, during the 57th episode of 'Mann ki Baat', Modi announced starting this campaign during Diwali and called on citizens to outline the achievements of 'daughters' of the country using BharatKiLaxmi hashtag.

"There must be numerous daughters amongst us who, through their perseverance, diligence and talent have brought glory to their families, society and the country. This Diwali, can we arrange programmes to honour the Laxmi of India?" Modi had said.
