If he has any respect left for me, he has to return immediately," Gowda said.

Karnataka sex scandal: Deve Gowda sternly warns grandson Prajwal Revanna to return, face probe

In a significant development, a court&nbsp;issued an arrest warrant against Prajwal Revanna on Saturday (May 18), who is the main accused in the Karnataka sex video scandal.&nbsp;

The JDS MP from Hassan has been absconding after allegations of serious sexual harassment were levelled against him.

The move came following an application by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that was formed to investigate the matter, as per local media reports.

Revanna did not appear before the team despite being sent a notice.

Earlier in the day, Janata Dal (Secular) party supremo Deve Gowda broke his silence over the charges levelled against Revanna and stated that he has no objection if action is taken against his grandson in case he is found guilty.

He further said that cases against his son and JD(S) MLA H D Revanna were fabricated. HD Revanna is currently facing charges of sexual harassment and kidnap of a woman.

"... I don't want to comment on things that are going on in the court regarding Revanna. Prajwal Revanna has gone abroad, regarding that Kumaraswamy (Gowda's other son and state JD(S) chief) has on behalf of our family said it is the duty of the government to take action in accordance with the law of the land," Gowda said.

"There are several people connected to this (sexual abuse cases), I don't want to take anyone's names. Kumaraswamy has said that for those who are involved in this matter, action should be taken against all of them, and the affected women should get justice and compensation."

"There is no objection from us for taking action against Prajwal. But people have come to know (facts) about the allegations made against Revanna, and how the case has been created. In one case he has got the bail, in another case, there is a judgment the day after tomorrow... I don't want to comment on it," he added.

Gowda's statements came just a day after reports indicated&nbsp;that former CM Siddaramaiah had suggested to Rahul Gandhi to break away from the coalition as it was doing more harm than good to the Congress party. However, senior Congress leader and former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah refuted the reports of any rift between JD(S) and Congress. Parliament's first Budget session after the constitution of the new government at Centre is scheduled to start on June 17. Deve Gowda, who served as the 11th&nbsp;Prime Minister&nbsp;of&nbsp;India&nbsp;from June 1996 to April 1997, lost to BJP's GS Basavaraj from Tumkur&nbsp;Lok Sabha&nbsp;constituency by little over 13,000 votes.

Earlier,&nbsp;Deve Gowda&nbsp;used to regularly contest from Hassan parliamentary constituency. However, he had vacated his seat to field his grandson&nbsp;Prajwal Revanna&nbsp;from there.

Soon after the&nbsp;Lok Sabha&nbsp;results were announced on May 23, Revanna, who defeated BJP's A Manju from Hassan by a margin of 1.41 lakh votes, offered to resign from the seat to get his grandfather re-elected.

"To reinstate the confidence of JD(S) cadre, we have to fill the gap left by the defeat of HD&nbsp;Deve Gowda.&nbsp;Therefore, I have decided to tender my resignation. I want him to be victorious once again from Hassan," said Prajwal, who was the only JD(S) candidate to be able to win his seat in&nbsp;Karnataka.

After his loss, Deve Gowda said, "As a former Prime Minister,&nbsp;I have been defeated twice. This is not a big issue. My concern is how to save a regional party. I will see that JD(S) strengthens its base. I will take responsibility and proceed forward. I am not going to blame anybody for the loss. How it happened is not to be discussed in media."

Now it is my responsibility to move forward with Congress, though I do agree in some states there is no question of any coalition. Faced with criticism for turning the JD(S) into a family enterprise, party supremo and former <a href="https://www.wionews.com/photos/political-heavyweights-in-tamil-nadu-cast-votes-as-polling-begins-211392">Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda</a> said on Thursday that people and party workers wanted his grandsons Nikhil Kumaraswamy and Prajwal Revanna to contest from Mandya and Hassan Lok Sabha constituencies.

Speaking to reporters after casting his vote in Hassan, Gowda said his opponents accused him of indulging in family politics but his rise in politics was possible because of God and voters, whom his family served to the best of its ability.

"People describe this as family politics. We are the children of farmers. We believe in God. My father was an ordinary farmer. By the grace of God, we grew in stages in politics," the former prime minister said.

"It (growth) is not in anyone's hand. Voters have strengthened us. We, whether it is Revanna (PWD minister), myself or (chief minister) Kumaraswamy have served them to the best of our ability," he said.

Justifying the decision to field his grandsons from Mandya and Hassan,Gowda said people were adamant that the two be fielded, which they respected.

"In Mandya Nikhil Kumaraswamy is contesting. All the eight MLAs and three ministers of Mandya were adamant that Nikhil Kumaraswamy should contest from there. This is the truth," he added.

Regarding Prajwal, the JD(S) supremo said, "Prajwal Revanna is anengineering graduate. He is into social work for many years.People and the party workers have recognised his work."

Putting end to speculations regarding JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda’s candidature for the Prime minister’s post, Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday said that the former is not going to take the post if mahagathbandhan or grand-alliance comes to power.

Speaking to media, Kumaraswamy said, "If mahagathbandhan comes to power HD Deve Gowda will not be the Prime Minister, he will be advisor to the government and will take care of the interests of the country."

He, however, refused to speculate on the name of a probable candidate and added, "The question of who will be the Prime Minister is secondary."

Earlier on February 27, Kumaraswamy had said that if the Congress and JD(S) alliance win at least 20-22 seats in Karnataka, then a Kannadiga can once again become the Prime Minister of the country.

"In 1996, a Kannadiga HD Devegowda became Prime Minister after you (Karnataka people) blessed us with 16 Lok Sabha seats. If you bless Congress and JD(S) with at least 20-22 seats in Karnataka once again, a Kannadiga can be in that place (Prime Minister),"&nbsp;Kumaraswamy had said while addressing a rally in Mandya.

Seven phase elections in the country will begin on April 11 and will go on till May 19. Counting of votes will be done on May 23.

Karnataka will go to polls on April 18 and 23.

JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda Wednesday turned emotional and said he was pained by allegations of dynasty politics against him.

The former prime minister's emotional response was to growing criticism of his family's alleged dynasty politics with JD(S) fielding both his grandsons Nikil Kumaraswamy and Prajwal Revanna from party bastions of Mandya and Hassan respectively for the Lok Sabha polls.

"...So many allegations, from the morning in the media (they talk about) Deve Gowda, Revanna, Kumaraswamy and their sons," Gowda said as he broke down at an event in Hassan to launch the poll campaign of PrajwalRevanna.

Prajwal, son of Gowda's elder son and PWD Minister H D Revanna, is Congress-JDS coalition's candidate from Hassan.

Seeing Gowda wiping tears and speaking in a heavy voice, JD(S) supporters gathered at the event requested him to calm down.

BJP has hit out at Deve Gowda, by calling the emotional episode as "drama".

The event also witnessed both Prajwal and his father Revanna too getting emotional.

Prajwal broke down as Gowda declared him as the candidate and Revanna while MLA Balakrishna was speaking about Gowda not contesting from Hassan this time.

Later speaking to reporters, Gowda said, he was pained by controversy in Mandya against his other grandson and chief minister H D Kumaraswamy's son Nikhil's candidature.

He said, "It was the decision of JD(S) leaders to field Nikil from Mandya. I had not announced. I'm deeply pained, they are saying Nikhil Go Back..." 
"...I will go to Mandya... Let them shout go back... for whom I fought in the last 60 years, I will place everything before the people of Mandya," he added.

The opposition is simmering against Nikhil's candidature in Mandya, as many who claim to be JD(S) supporters have hit out at the party leadership for sidelining loyal party workers to favour someone from their family despite not being actively involved in party activities.

A social media campaign titled "Go back Nikhil" had gained momentum in Mandya a couple of days ago to oppose the "dynasty politics" of the Deve Gowda family.

BJP said: "First Drama for the 2019 elections begins now," as it tweeted videos of Gowda and family getting emotional at the Hassan event.

Chief Minister Kumaraswamy is also prone to sentimental outbursts over coalition troubles.

"Emotions are my weakness. It is in my blood. It is very difficult to control," Kumaraswamy had said last month.

With tears trickling down his cheeks, Kumaraswamy had said in July last year that he was not happy being the chief minister and "I have swallowed poison like Lord Vishakantha (Shiva)."&nbsp;
