Pakistan's Punjab province continued to witness high COVID-19 cases with 4,195 patients, with Sindh recording 3,053 cases of the virus.

Sindh recorded 289 cases of the virus with 5 deaths in the last 24 hours, reports said.

As the number of coronavirus cases continued to rise in the country, Punjab minister Rashid said the country was conducting a large number of tests.

Balochistan reported one more death taking the toll in the region to six. Punjab recorded 474 new coronavirus cases in the biggest daily jump even as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 39 new cases of the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Pakistan President Arif Alvi visited Muzaffarabad to review the coronavirus situation in the region.

According to the government, the number of COVIDd-19 cases in Pakistan has crossed 2,000.

Amid the rising number of cases, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh proposed Rs 550 crore project to the government for setting up an advanced centre for virology in the state, with land to be offered by the state government free of cost.

CM Amarinder Singh wrote to PM Modi requesting him to direct the Union Ministry of health &amp; family welfare to set up the proposed centre which would focus on addressing regional, national and global needs in virology, diagnostic, research and therapeutic evaluations to cope with the coronavirus crisis.

Meanwhile, elsewhere the Karnataka government said that ten new coronavirus cases were reported in the state in last 24 hours taking the number of cases to 207.

Six people have died to the virus in Karnataka.

Punjab's Mohali district granted permission to Max Super Speciality Hospital to collect samples for testing of coronavirus cases.

Elsewhere in the country, the Tamil Nadu government said that 77 new coronavirus cases were reported in the state today with the total number of confirmed cases climbing to 911 in the state even as the Haryana government said 162 persons have been tested positive for coronavirus in the state, with 22 people having been discharged.

Punjab CM's office said that banks will remain open in on March 30 and 31 to facilitate financial transactions amid the ongoing curfew. However, from April 3, the bank branches will open for two days a week only on a rotation basis, the CM's office informed.

The Punjab government has constituted four committees to deal with the management and administrative effort to fight COVID-19 in the state. The committees being constituted include health sector response and procurement, lockdown implementation, media and food and agriculture.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath ordered industries to give salaries to their employees even if they have been shut due to countrywide due to the coronavirus outbreak.

"The companies, which have been closed during the lockdown period, will have to pay their employees salary," the Uttar Pradesh chief minister said, adding, "I request the house owners to not take rent from their tenants who are poor or are daily wage labourers."&nbsp;

"Electricity and water will not be disconnected even if people are not able to pay their bills," the UP chief minister said.

"The government will ensure that everyone gets food, drinking water and medicine no matter where he or she is from."

"The officials need to take care of the daily and economic needs of workers from other states so that they do not feel the need to flee to their respective states," the chief minister added.&nbsp;
