The Philippines on Friday (September 8) slammed China's coast guard and "maritime militia" for "illegal, aggressive and destabilising" behaviour towards its boats that allegedly interfered in another routine resupply mission to a remote military outpost in the disputed South China Sea.&nbsp;

The Philippines Coast Guard said that two Philippine Coast Guard vessels were encountered by four Chinese Coast Guard and four "militia" boats at the time when they were escorting supply boats to the Second Thomas Shoal in the Spratly Islands.&nbsp;

Manila said that the vessels were able to successfully deliver the cargo, but the National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea said that the Chinese vessels had carried out "harassment, dangerous manoeuvres, and aggressive conduct" towards the Philippine boats.&nbsp;

China said on Friday (August 11) that Chinese coast guard held joint drills with Russian and South Korean coast guards. An official statement from the Chinese side said that the drills took place between August 7 and August 10.

The Chinese coast guard said in the statement that maritime law enforcement from countries including Russia and South Korea took part in the annual North Pacific coast guard drills in eastern Chinese city Ningbo. The drills targetted drug trafficking at sea.

China has a number of maritime and territorial disputes in waters around it. It claims entirety of Taiwan and has not ruled out use of force to retake the self-governing island. With Japan, it has dispute over Senkaku/ Diaoyu islands. China also claims the entirety of South China Sea. It cites ancient references for its claim. In the matter of South China Sea, China has disputes with a number of countries.

On Thursday (August 10), the Southeast Asian country said that it will send more supplies to a remote outpost on a reef in the disputed South China Sea. The supplies will be sent as early as next week. This development has come after Chinese boats disrupted a delivery

On last Saturday, a resupply mission could not unload all of its cargo because Chinese coast guard ships blocked its way and fired water cannon at the Philippine coast guard vessels and charter boats attempting to unload food, water and fuel on Second Thomas Shoal.

This flare-up has started a diplomatic row between Manila and Beijing. It also sparked international criticism of China.

A handful of marines are based on a World War II-vintage ship called the BRP Sierra Madre, which was deliberately grounded on the submerged reef in 1999 to check China's advance in the hotly contested waters. The tiny garrison depends on regular deliveries for their survival.

A statement released by the defence command for Kinmen, a group of islands under Taiwan’s control, stated that the drone entered restricted air space over Lion Islet just after midday (0400 GMT).&nbsp;

According to Reuters, the statement further added that the action was taken after the military issued multiple warnings and the remains of the drone were not found after it landed in the sea.&nbsp;

Earlier, President Tsai Ing-wen announced that the Taiwanese military will be taking “countermeasures” against Chinese incursions after Beijing continued to conduct military drills in the region.&nbsp;

"Let the military guard the country without fear and with solid confidence," it added.&nbsp;

Overall, in the second intrusion, 6 coast guard ships, 10 fishing ships and 2 service ships along with H6 bomber, fighter aircraft and mid-air refuelers have spotted hovering in the area. The first intrusion began on July 3 and Chinese ships left on August 7.&nbsp;

This is the third major intrusion by the Chinese since 2011. In 2011, the Chinese had cut Vietnamese cables; in 2014, Beijing had placed a drilling platform which was later withdrawn.
