Ukrainian troops have accused Russia of systematically using internationally outlawed chemical gas attacks on the battlefield. In statements given to the Daily Telegraph, they said Russia regularly uses small drones to drop teargas and other chemicals. The use of such substance, known as CS, is banned under international treaties, primarily the Chemical Weapons Convention.

According to a top Ukrainian commander, the frequent CS attacks have forced the Ukrainian troops to carry gas masks to the frontlines.

A commander of the Ukrainian army on the frontlines in Donetsk Oblast claimed, "Nearly every position in our area of the front was getting one or two gas grenades dropped on them a day."

"The only way for them to successfully attack us [is] with gas," he added.

The commander added that the tactic has induced fear and panic among troops on the frontlines. As and when gas is detected, "the first instinct is to get out", he is quoted as saying.

As troops get out of their trenches and start running away, Russian troops easily take them down from far away. Ukraine claims Russia has carried out 625 gas-related attacks on their troops since the war broke out in 2022.

While most of the troops on the frontlines now carry gas masks, their effectiveness is highly limited as they are ex-Soviet models and not fit for modern-day war.

As a result, President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on the West for urgent support and weapons needed for a counteroffensive.

"We don't have shells for counteroffensive actions, as for the defence - there are several initiatives, and we're receiving weapons," he said last week.

One of the chemical weapons allegedly used by Russia was identified as a K-51 gas grenade by chemical weapons expert Marc-Michael Blum. These grenades are typically filled with tear gas.

It is to be noted that even Russia had accused Ukraine of using chemical weapons back in 2023.

Russia accused Ukrainian forces of using unspecified chemical weapons in drones in Russian-occupied eastern Ukraine.

Both sides deny claims.

Pence statement came&nbsphours later of the operation while he was attending the America summit at the Washington DC which he had to attend as president Trump cancelled due to the official statement he had to make about the action&nbspagainst the Syrian chemical attack.

Earlier on Saturday, US, UK and France lanched 105 missiles at three facilitties connected to the regime of Syrian president Bashar al-assad as a retaliation to April 7 chemical attacks which took lives of at least 50 civillians.

The missile hit a scientific research facility in Damascus and Syrian army depots in the Homs area.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said a second research facility was also struck in Damascus, in addition to a third in the Homs area, and five military bases and depots used by elite army divisions in the Mezzeh area of Damascus.

On the type of chemical that was used in the attack, Pence informed that 'minimum' chlorine was used along with serin.

Pence also said, "It's time for Russia to get the message President Trump delivered last night. You're known by the company you keep."

He further mentioned of the NAFTA wall being built up at the US-Mexico border while saying that United States, Mexico, and Canada are close to renegotiating a new NAFTA deal.&nbsp

Meanwhile, in United Nations Security Council, Russia's bid to condemn the US, British and France over the air strike failed as only China and Bolivia was ones who ones who voted with Russia to draft resolution during the 15-member council meet requested by Russia.

However, The United States, France and Britain defended their military action as legal during the Security Council meeting.

An inquiry by the United Nations and a global chemical weapons watchdog has said&nbsp;Syrian government forces were responsible for a third toxic gas attack -- Syria has&nbsp;already been held responsible for two earlier attacks --&nbsp;in the country.&nbsp;

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) presented the report to the UN Security Council on Friday; the report&nbsp;said the Syrian army had attacked the village of Qmenas with chemical weapons in March 2015.&nbsp;

Syrian forces had used helicopters to drop barrel bombs&nbsp;which released chlorine gas, the report said. The report added the helicopters were from the 63rd brigade but&nbsp;it &quot;could not confirm the names of the individuals who took command&quot; of the operation.&nbsp;

A&nbsp;previous report had blamed President Bashar al-Assad&#39;s government for two earlier chlorine gas attacks, one in Hama province on April 21, 2014 and the other in Idlib province on March 16, 2015.&nbsp;

Chlorine gas, a highly deadly hydrochloric acid, is prohibited under the 1997 Chemical Weapons Convention, which Syria joined in 2013. Syria had agreed to destroy its chemical weapons under the deal brokered by Moscow and Washington. The UN Security Council had backed the deal.&nbsp;

With the report&#39;s investigators demanding those &quot;with effective control in the military...&nbsp;be held accountable&quot;, the latest report has set the stage for a showdown between the five UNSC powers.
