In a shocking case of correction, Bihar's Disaster Management Minister Dinesh Chandra Yadav today confirmed that there were no casualties in yesterday's bus accident in Motihari district. The minister had earlier said on camera that 27 people had died.

"The information of deaths was wrong. Yes I said 27 people have died, it was based on information from local sources, but I also said that only the final report will be considered," Dinesh Chandra Yadav said. 
 
"There was booking for 13 people. 8 were taken to hospital by authorities, there was no sign of remaining 5, no remains were found. They might have left the spot on their own."

The bus caught fire after it fell into a ditch and overturned.

The accident occurred under the Kotwa police station area, over 75 km from the state capital. &nbsp; &nbsp;

Pratyay Amrit, Principal Secretary - Disaster Management Department, had said that most of the charred bodies were still inside the bus.

At least 32 people, including 11 children, were feared dead after a bus fell into a roadside pond in Bihar, India. 
 
Madhubani district magistrate Giriwar Dayal Singh confirmed that 32 bodies had been recovered from the pond by late evening, the Hindustan Times reported.&nbsp; 
 
Some 13 passengers on board the bus&nbsp;were rescued, officials said to the Hindustan Times. 
 
The accident took place in Madhubani district, about 50 kms from Madhubani town. 
 
The private bus, carrying 65 passengers, was on its way from Madhubani to Sitamarhi when the mishap took place. Some of the passengers swam to safety. 
 
The bus was pulled out of the pond with the help of a crane and a search was on for the people missing. 
 
In Patna, chief minister Nitish Kumar expressed deep sorrow and released a statement saying the reason for the accident was being looked into. He instructed officials to speed up relief and rescue operations. 
 
Kumar instructed revenue minister Madan Mohan Jha and panchayati raj minister Kapildeo Kamat to rush to the accident spot. 
 
Police had trouble getting to the spot and had to call for additional reinforcements; they faced resistance from villagers angered by how long it took for the crane to get to the accident spot and pelted stones at the police. . 
 
A state disaster response force (SDRF) team has reached the mishap site, PTI reported. 
 
The chief minister has also issued instruction that assistance be provided to the victims.
