<p>The Delhi Police has said that the footage of the May 13 assault on Aam Aadmi Party&nbsp;(AAP) leader Swati Maliwal might have been tampered with by the prime accused Bibhav Kumar to destroy evidence. Citing a remand note from the police, a report by NDTV on Sunday (May 19) said that police officials pointed out that a portion of the footage from the CCTV cameras at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence (when&nbsp;the assault happened) was blank.</p>

<p>As per the NDTV report, police officials said that they did not receive the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) so that they could scan the assault footage as part of the investigation. CCTV cameras at Delhi CM's residence are under the purview of the Public Works Department (PWD).</p>

<p>Earlier, Maliwal claimed that the CCTV cameras at Kejriwal's residence were being tampered with, and edited videos of the assault were being released.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bibhav Kumar, Kejriwal's aide, was arrested on Saturday and sent to&nbsp;five-day police custody by a Delhi court in connection with the case. Kumar was&nbsp;produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Gaurav Goyal who awarded the custody.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Saturday, Delhi's Tis Hazari Court denied Arvind Kejriwal's aide Bibhav Kumar's anticipatory bail plea in the ongoing Swati Maliwal assault case. Kumar was arrested on earlier on Saturday by police in Delhi at the Chief Minister's house.</p>

<p>This comes after Kumar filed a complaint against Maliwal with the Delhi police on Friday via email to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Civil Lines, accusing Swati Maliwal of physical assault following a video allegedly showing Maliwal threatening Kumar.</p>

<p>Earlier, a team of police arrived at Chief Minister Kejriwal's residence.&nbsp;Maliwal, the former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW),&nbsp;alleged that she was&nbsp;"slapped, hit on the stomach, and kicked" by Kumar at Kejriwal's residence on May 13. <h2><strong>Maliwal has bruises on&nbsp;left leg, right cheek: MLC report</strong></h2>

<p>The Medico-legal Case report&nbsp;in the matter said that Maliwal has&nbsp;bruises on&nbsp;her left leg and her right cheek. The report was filed following an examination of the AAP woman MP&nbsp;at the Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre at AIIMS Delhi.</p>

<p>The report said that Maliwal&nbsp;had a bruise of the size of 3x2 centimetre over the "proximal left leg dorsal aspect" and another bruise of the size of 2x2 centimetre over her "right cheek below her right eye."</p>

<h2><strong>'Will cooperate in probe'</strong></h2>

<p>Following Kumar's arrest, his lawyer Karan Sharma told ANI,&nbsp;"We've not received any information from the police yet." Kumar added, "We've sent them an e-mail that we will cooperate in the investigation."</p>

<p>The Delhi CM’s aide has been described as a “bridge” to Kejriwal as well as the AAP leader’s eyes and ears, reported the Indian Express citing party insiders. He is also said to be the person who handles everything for the Delhi CM from his personal phone to his insulin doses.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to media reports, Kumar first came into contact with Kejriwal during the India Against Corruption Movement where he reportedly worked as a video journalist.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, he had also been under scrutiny by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to the excise policy case as well as alleged irregularities within the Delhi Jal Board.</p>

<p>A few days after the raids, Kumar was terminated as the personal secretary to the Delhi CM due to an order by the Directorate of Vigilance as he had a pending case against him.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The law prohibits the employment of individuals with criminal charges against them in government services.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Delhi CM’s aide was first hired as a private secretary on a co-coterminous contract in 2015 and was retained in 2020 when AAP formed the government again.&nbsp;</p>
