Delta Airlines issued a strange and eye-brow-raising memo for its potential flight attendants asking them to wear proper undergarments.&nbsp;

The document was issued to outline the 'appearance requirements' for employees of the company.

In the two-page document, the airline issued strict guidelines for how those who wish to get a job with the airline should look and had specific instructions for the underwear.

The airline states that "proper undergarments must be worn" by those coming for the interview, however, it "must not be visible."

The document issued by Delta Airlines mentioned detailed rules regarding the appearance of the potential hires and specified why they can't have "neon" or "multi-coloured" nails.

"Delta flight attendants spend the most time with our customers and are the face of our airline," the memo stated.&nbsp;

"To help ensure commitment to Delta’s brand and customer service we have created updated appearance requirements for your interview process, initial qualification training, and throughout your career as a Delta Flight Attendant," it added.

The memo stated all staff members "must always maintain personal cleanliness and hygiene."

It added that "eyelashes should appear natural, avoiding extreme length and volume,&nbsp;while facial hair must be trimmed and neatly maintained."

It further stated that "visible tattoos" were not allowed and "must be covered by clothing or waterproof makeup."

"Bandages are not suitable for coverage of tattoos at any time. Fingernails must be clean, neat, trimmed and, if polished, chip-free. All nails must be the same colour. No neon colours, multi-colour, adornments, glitter, hand-painted designs, or airbrushed nails permitted," the memo read.

"Hair touching or longer than the shoulder must be pulled completely back and secured away from the eyes, such as in a ponytail, bun, braid, etc. If hair is up (i.e., in a ponytail), and still extends past your mid-back, it must be pinned up," the memo stated.

'Earrings may be gold, silver, white pearl, or clear diamond/diamond-like studs only,' it urged. "No hoop earrings. Ear stretching gauges are not permitted," it added.

Being specific on the dresses, the airlines stated, "Dresses and skirts should be at or below knee length."

"Shoes should be closed-toe flats, heels or sling back. Athletic-type shoes are not permitted.&nbsp;Tie is required with button-collared dress shirts for those who choose to wear the male uniform," it added.

"[Delta flight attendants] must be passionate about enhancing each customer’s experience while embodying the Delta brand. A Delta flight attendant is expected to deliver a welcoming, elevated, and caring experience while creating moments that matter to our customers.&nbsp;The customer service experience begins the moment a flight attendant puts on their uniform," stated the memo.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, a Delta spokesperson said that the new change has been introduced and their intention was to be "more specific."
