Payal's History at FTII

During her time at the Pune institute, Payal took part in the months-long protests against actor Gajendra's appointment as the chairman of the film institute. She faced disciplinary action and an FIR, and even her scholarship was retracted.

Back then, the Pune Police filed an FIR against 35 students, including Kapadia for holding then-FTII director Prashant Pathrabe captive in his office when they were protesting against the assessment of incomplete diploma film projects of the 2008 batch.
