Two men in Pakistan belonging to the&nbsp;Ahmadiyya community were shot dead on Saturday (June 8) by a teenager in the&nbsp;Mandi Bahauddin district. Citing a community spokesperson, a report by Dawn said that the killings took place&nbsp;in the same locality within a difference of 20 minutes. The victims&nbsp;aged 64 and 30 died on the spot after being shot. The attack was carried out by a&nbsp;19-year-old&nbsp;student of a religious seminary. He was immediately arrested after the locals alerted the police about the incident.

<h2>What led to the killings</h2>

The spokesperson from the&nbsp;Ahmadiyya community said that a hate campaign had been launched for the last few weeks ahead of Eidul Azha in a bid to stop their community from observing the occasion.

Speaking to Dawn,&nbsp;Mandi Bahauddin District Police Officer (DPO) Ahmad Mohyyuddin said that the police recovered a pistol from the attacker who confessed to killing the two men of the&nbsp;Ahmadiyya community.

Mohyyuddin said the 19-year-old claimed that he had listened to different speeches against the minority community on social media platforms which made him carry out the killings.&nbsp;

<h2>Special team to investigate</h2>

The attacker bought the pistol as he wanted to kill every Ahmadi,&nbsp;Mohyyuddin added.

The police officer further said that a case&nbsp;was registered against the suspect under terrorism charges, and cops would also look into the possible involvement of other people in the killings.

The&nbsp;Mandi Bahauddin DPO was instructed by Punjab&nbsp;IGP Dr Usman Anwar to form a special team to investigate the case.&nbsp;
