<p>The horrific gangrape of a medical student in Delhi in 2012 shook the conscience of the entire nation. Now the entire case will be re-told via a web series called 'Delhi Crime'. Starring Shefali Shah in a key role, the series will be released on Netflix on March 22 this year.</p>

<p>Directed by Indo-Canadian filmmaker Richie Mehta, the seven-episode season one of the series is based on 2012 brutal gangrape case in Delhi that had shaken the whole country.</p>

<p>The show captures the "complexities of the scrutiny, the emotional toll on the investigating team, and their determination to bring the perpetrators to justice in a fraught environment," the streaming giant said in a statement.<br />

The show is set for a world premiere on Tuesday at the ongoing Sundance Film Festival.<br />
<br />
Shah, 46, is portraying police officer Vartika Chaturvedi in the series, which will also feature actors Adil Hussain, Denzil Smith, Rasika Duggal, Rajesh Tailang and Yashaswini Dayama.<br />

Over six years of research went into the making of the series, which was shot on location in New Delhi.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Mehta, best known for directing films such as 'Amal' (2007), 'I'll Follow You Down' (2013) and 'Siddharth' (2014), got the idea for the show during a conversation with Neeraj Kumar, a former Commissioner of the Delhi Police.</p>

<p>The bench of three judges, Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices R Banumathi and Ashok Bhushan will hear the petition filed by one of the four convicts Mukesh, 29, seeking a review of its verdict upholding the capital punishment awarded to him.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The other convicts in the case are Pawan (22), Vinay Sharma (23) and Akshay Thakur (31).</p>

<p>In his plea filed through advocate ML Sharma, the convict has claimed that the top court had not considered several issues related to him in the case which he raised during the stage of trial and subsequent appeal in the courts.</p>

<p>Nirbhaya, a 23-year-old paramedic student, was brutally gang-raped on December 16, 2012 and assaulted by six men in a moving bus as it drove through the streets of New Delhi.&nbsp;A fortnight later, on December 29,&nbsp;she died in a Singapore hospital.</p>

<p>Ram Singh, another convict in the case, allegedly committed suicide in the capital&#39;s Tihar Jail. A convicted juvenile has come out the reformation home after serving a three-year term.</p>
