The gauge had lost 261.04 points in the previous two sessions.

The NSE 50-share Nifty also gained 97.25 points, or 0.92 per cent, to 10,715.50 after shuttling between 10,725.65 and 10,635.65.

Meanwhile, domestic institutional investors bought shares worth a net Rs 1,084.09 crore, while foreign portfolio investors sold shares worth Rs 1,628.23 crore on Friday, provisional data showed.

Asian markets ended mixed despite a strong closing on Wall Street as investors digested last week's trade talks between the US and China, while US jobs data eased fears of faster rate hike by the Federal Reserve.

However, US crude topped the USD 75 mark for the first time since 2014. Crude oil prices rose by 0.75 per cent to USD 75.43 a barrel.&nbsp

In an interview with CNN that aired last month, McDougal said she was in love with Trump and the affair started not long after his wife, Melania, gave birth to their son, Barron.

The White House has said that Trump denies having an affair with McDougal.

AMI has said McDougal was permitted to speak about her relationship with Trump in response to "legitimate press inquiries."

McDougal had argued in her lawsuit that the agreement was an illegal corporate donation from AMI to the Trump campaign that violated federal election law.

American Media head David Pecker has described Trump as a "personal friend."

Trump has been engaged in a legal battle with adult-film actress Stormy Daniels, who says she had a one-night stand with Trump in 2006.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, has sued Trump and his lawyer Michael Cohen to be released from a 2016 agreement not to publicly discuss the alleged sexual encounter in exchange for $130,000.

The alleged affair has become the latest distraction for Trump as he tries to advance his trade agenda and prepares for a proposed meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. It also threatens to erode the president&#39;s support among evangelical voters.&nbsp;

Michael Cohen, a private lawyer for Trump, has said he paid Clifford $130,000 of his own money during the 2016 presidential election campaign. Cohen did not explain why he made the payment or say whether Trump was aware of it.

Regardless of whether Cohen accepts Clifford&#39;s offer, the money is the subject of a complaint by the watchdog group Common Cause to the Federal Election Commission. The group claims it is an illegal campaign contribution because of the size and purpose of the payment.

While the Sensex crossed the 34,000 mark for the first time ever, the Nifty hovered above the 10,500 mark today.&nbsp;

The 30-share index jumped 65.07 points, or 0.19 percent, to reach 34,005.37 in the early morning trade.&nbsp;

It received support from all sectoral indices, driven by technology and oil and gas. &nbsp;with gains of up to 0.90 percent.

The Nifty jumped 22.10 points, or 0.21 percent, to a new peak of 10.515.10.

Among the BSE indices, realty index gained the most by 0.89 per cent, followed by metal 0.87 per cent, infrastructure 0.53 per cent and oil &amp; gas 0.53 per cent.

On the other hand, banking index was down by 0.24 per cent and consumer durables by 0.12 per cent.

The top five Sensex gainers were ONGC (+1.24%), Wipro (+0.85%), Tata Steel (+0.85%), Asian Paints (+0.85%) and TCS (+0.73%), while the major losers were ICICI Bank (-0.71%), State Bank of India (-0.67%), Infosys (-0.66%), M&amp;M (-0.48%) and Coal India (-0.39%).

Bitcoin has had a difficult week. In just five days Bitcoin lost close to a third of its value plummeting below $13,000 on Friday -- a fall of nearly 20 per cent. The cryptocurrency touched a high of around $20,000 on Sunday and went on to witness its worst today since April 2013. "Bitcoin had witnessed a staggering twentyfold increase since the start of the year, climbing from less than $1,000 to as high as $19,666 on the Luxembourg-based Bitstamp exchange on Sunday and to over $20,000 on other exchanges," Reuters reported. As per the actress&#39; account, the man took advantage of the dim lighting inside the cabin and she could not record the incident completely because of it. She said she got no help from the flight crew even on complaining.

Shiv Sena MLA Prakash Abitkar has claimed he was named as a beneficiary of the farm loan waiver in the Kolhapur District Central Cooperative Bank, even though he had not applied for it. He has got a loan waiver of Rs 25,000 from the bank.

The Shiv Sena MLA has raised the issue citing faulty implementation of the loan waiver scheme and demanded an inquiry into this flawed inclusion as the rules bar any existing or former elected representative from getting benefit under the scheme.

He said, &quot;I was stunned when I came to know that my name appeared on the green list of loan waiver beneficiaries. I was shocked again when I got more details about the list of my (Kolhapur) area. I had not even applied or registered my name anywhere to get the waiver.&quot;

The Opposition is directly blaming Fadnavis for this as the Chief Minister Office (CMO) had been working on the data of the beneficiaries of this scheme through information and technology department of Maharashtra.

MLA's name figures in loan-waiver beneficiary list

The Opposition in Rajya Sabha today candidly asked finance minister Arun Jaitley to clarify whether the government has decided to scrap the newly launched Rs 2,000 note and introduce a Rs 1,000 coin but India&#39;s finance minister refused to clarify.

Samajwadi member Naresh Agrawal asked a direct question to the government in the Rajya Sabha:&nbsp;&quot;The government <a href="http://www.wionews.com/south-asia/demonetisation-swipe-card-at-petrol-pump-get-up-to-rs-2000-cash-8968">has taken a decision to scrap Rs 2,000 note</a>. The RBI has been given order not to print the Rs 2,000 notes. ...if any policy decision been taken during the Parliament Session, the tradition is to announce it in the House.&quot;

Deputy chairman P J Kurien interjected, saying &quot;that is RBI&#39;s action.&quot;

Naresh Agrawal added: &quot;So far, the RBI has printed 3.2 lakh crore pieces of Rs 2,000 notes and now it has stopped printing... RBI cannot bully. One note ban has been done, the second one is being planned. Let the finance minister say...,&quot; he said.
