The IPL 2024 edition started on March 22 and has already become a huge talking point in the cricketing fraternity. Till now, only eight games have been held but the excitement level and hype is unreal. Formula One driver Oscar Piastri, on Wednesday (March 27), also joined the craze for the ongoing season and asked, on X, the IPL loyalists to recommond him a teamto support. Notably, Australia's Piastri is the first driver to win Formula Renault Eurocup, FIA Formula 3 Championship, and FIA Formula 2 Championship in consecutive rookie years. The 22-year-old driver is part of McLaren in F1.
Soon after Piastri's question, Pat Cummins -- Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain -- shared his response and asked his compatriot to back the Orange Army. Check out:
Piastri wrote on X, formerly Twitter, "Getting into the @IPL this year. Any suggestions who I should support?"
Here's Cummins' response:
Cummins' response came after Hyderabad's famous 31-run win over five-time winners MI in match 8 of the ongoing season. Being asked to bat, in Hyderabad, Cummins & Co. posted the highest team score in IPL history, posting 277 for 3 riding onTravis Head's 24-ball 62, Abhishek Sharma's 23-ball 63 and Heinrich Klaasen's 34-ball 80*. In reply, Tilak Varma top-scored for MI with a 34-ball 64but Hardik Pandya & Co. fell short, managing 243 for 5.
After the game, SRH captain Cummins said in the post-match show, "That was insane. The ball was really pinging around. Not until we bowled, it got a bit too close for comfort. They found a boundary whenever they needed it, but we finished it off well. What's important is to have clear plans with the ball."
Hyderabad will now face Gujarat Titans (GT), in Ahmedabad, on Sunday (March 31).
