The continued pressure from United Nations and the US has finally forced Pakistan to declareHafiz Saeed as a terrorist.
Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain signed an ordinance on Monday declaring Saeed's organisationLashkar-e-Taiba and several otherorganisations in Pakistan as terroristoutfit.
The ordinance aimed at cracking down terror groups by amending a section of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The sanctions have been put on al-Qaeda, Tehreek-e-Taliban, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Jamaat-ud-Dawa, Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation and Lashkar-e-Taiba including others.
The amendment enables the authorities to take action against the declared terror outfits.
The United Nations Security Council had prohibited terrorists and individual outfits by sealing their offices and freezing their bank accounts.
The Pakistan authority is bound to take legal action against the terrorist organisation under the obligation of theinternational force, Financial Action Task Force-(FATF).
The declaration has come at a time whenHafiz Saeed is looking forward to contesting the 2018 Pakistan general elections. He has also formed a party by the name of Milli Muslim League(MML).
The move taken by the Pakistan government was not highlighted much in the media.
