Video shows devotees drinking AC water, believing it to be 'Charan Amrit' at Banke Bihari Temple

In Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, an unusual incident has sparked widespread attention after a video went viral. Devotees at the Shri Banke Bihari Mandir mistakenly believed that water dripping from an elephant-shaped spout was ‘Charan Amrit’, or holy water from the feet of Lord Krishna.

Devotees' actions caught on camera

A temple visitor recording the scene explains, "This water is from the air conditioner, not from Lord Krishna's feet." Despite this clarification from temple priests, numerous devotees continued to drink and splash the water.

The video shows many devotees drinking the water enthusiastically. Some used cups to collect it, while others drank directly from their hands. A few even placed the water on their heads as a gesture of reverence. However, this water, flowing from the elephant-shaped outlets, was not holy; it was simply condensation from the air conditioning system.

Reactions on social media

The video has since received over 4 million views on X, igniting a lively discussion among viewers. Comments range from scepticism to concern, with one user remarking, "Serious education is needed 100%. People are drinking AC water, thinking it is 'Charanamrit' from the feet of God!!"

A medical expert 'The Liver Doc' also responded to the situation, issuing a health warning. He noted, "Cooling and air conditioning systems are breeding grounds for many infections including fungus, some hellish. Exposure to air conditioning condensed water can lead to a terrifying disease known as Legionnaires' disease, spread by a species of bacteria called Legionella."
