Liquor baron Vijay Mallya appeared in London's Westminster court today and declared that charges against him were "false, fabricated and baseless" as India continues to push for former Kingfisher chief's extradition

Britain's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) led by lawyer Mark Summers has taken up the case behalf of the Indian government. The CPS needs to demonstrate criminal charges against Mallya are justified and that he should be extradited to face charges in India.
On arrivingin court, Mallya said: "I have said repeatedly that the charges are false, fabricated and baseless," adding," I have nothing to say, submissions in court will be self-evident."
"Please hear the proceedings," the former Kingfisher chief told reporters waiting outside the courtroom.
Mallya had flown to the UK on March 2, 2016 even as Indian authorities charged him with fraud and money laundering related to Kingfisher Airlines owing several Indian banks around Rs 9,000 crores.
