Padmavati row: The questions a Parliamentary panel is expected to ask Bhansali, Prasoon Joshi today

Padmavati director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi are expected to meet a Parliamentary panel today.

There have been strongprotests against Bhansali's movie Padmavati, which Rajput and Hindu groups say disrespects Rajput history.

"The panel has asked Bhansali and Joshi to appear before it and present their views on the movie. They can present their case before the panel. The members have also decided to call the producers of the movie," chairman of the panel Anurag Thakur was quoted as saying by PTI.

Actors Raj Babbar and Paresh Rawal, who are also MPs, are also part of the panel.

Source said the panel is expected to ask Bhansali the following questions:

-- Is your movie based on fiction or reality?

-- When you were making this particular film, did you have any particular intention to change characters from history?

-- Did u promise any particular group of private citizens that you would show them your movie prior to its release, and did you then decide otherwise?

-- As a filmmaker, do you feel thatif a particular community is being sensitive about a few scenes, those scenes can be altered or cut. This is not going to be for the first time that a movie is being altered; then why such resilience?

-- Did you try to reach out to this group on your own when the protests began?

-- There are murmurs that you are not ready for cuts as you feel these protests might help your movie?

-- You are also an Indian. You know how sensitive these things can become. Why don’t you sit with the other side -- if required this committee would recommend to ministers that they should mediate a meeting between you and the protestors. Are you open to the idea?

-- Have you shot any scene relating to any historical character that is obscene in nature?
