NCERT proposes to include Class 9-11 in Class 12 board results. Here's how marks will likely be calculated

A new evaluation model to calculate the Class 12 board exam marks has been proposed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in which the performance of students from Class 9 to 11 will be included.

According to the new report of NCERT PARAKH, the Class 12 board exams' valuation will be based on the performance of the student in classes 9-11 and will also include skill-based and vocational training.

The report released by PARAKH was titled "Establishing Equivalence across Education Boards" and suggested that aggregate performance metrics of students between Classes 9 to 11 should be incorporated.

Here's how the Class 12 marks will be calculated if NCERT's proposal is implemented

In the evaluation, Class 9 marks will have a 15 per cent presentation, Class 10 marks will have 20 per cent, Class 11 marks will have 25 per cent and Class 12 will have a 40 per cent presentation.

A particular marking scheme will be followed from Class 9 to Class 12.

In Class 9 results, formative assessment will have 70 per cent weightage and summative assessments will have 30 per cent weightage.

In Class 10, equal weightage will be given to formative and summative assessments. In Class 11, 60 per cent weightage will be given to summative assessments and 40 per cent to formative assessments.

In Class 12, 70 per cent weightage will be for summative assessments and 30 per cent for formative assessments.

As proposed by PARAKH, the assessments will be measured in terms of credits.

As per the proposal, students will be able to accumulate 40 credits each in Classes 9 and 10 and will gather 44 credits each in Classes 11 and 12.

Following, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, PARAKH has proposed to make vocational and skill-based subjects compulsory in the curriculum.
