Monsoon Update: IMD forecasts rainy weekend for Delhi-NCR; light showers expected on Friday

Monsoon rains returned to Delhi-NCR and brought relief from the heat on Friday, July 19. The humidity and temperaturesremained high during the last few days, but the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light showers in the national capital region today.

According to the weather department, rain is expected in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad with a cloudy sky throughout the day. The maximum temperature is predicted to touch 37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may remain near 29 degrees Celsius.

Light rain showers were also recorded in neighbouringparts of Delhiwhich brought temporary relief to people from the heat. However, after the rain, high humidity levels troubled the residents.

IMD has forecasted increased monsoon activity in the coming days for Delhi-NCR. Light rain and cloudy skies are expected on Saturday, July 20. The intensity ofrain is expected to increase during the next 4-5 days.

Heavy rain forecast in Uttar Pradesh

IMD predicts heavy rains in most parts of Uttar Pradesh as monsoon activity is expected to increase over the next coming days. Thunderstorm warnings have also been issued in various regions.

While the rainfall brought slight respite from the heat, humidity has remained high in the Northern states. According to the weather officials, the conditions are likely to remain the same till July 24. A yellow alert has been issued for the region for July 21 and 22.

Landslide warnings in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh

Landslide warnings have been issued in the northern hilly regions of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh by the authorities. The officials have urged residents to remain alert and careful as landslides are possible due to monsoon rains in the mountains.
