AAP leader Atishi on Friday (Apr 26) announced that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal will campaign for the Lok Sabha polls on behalf of her jailed husband.
The Delhi minister said that Sunita would hold roadshows in various states including Punjab, Gujarat, Haryana, and the Indian capital.
"To oppose the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, seek blessings for him, and campaign for AAP's candidates, his wife Sunita Kejriwal will personally step into the campaign. She will ask for blessings for Arvind from the people of Delhi, Punjab, Gujarat, and Haryana," Atishi said in a press conference.
The initial focus of the campaign will be on Delhi as one roadshow will be held in East Delhi Lok Sabha on April 27 and another in West Delhi Lok Sabha on April 28.
"Sunita Kejriwal's campaign will start tomorrow, beginning in Delhi. Tomorrow, April 27, Sunita ji will hold a roadshow in East Delhi Lok Sabha and seek blessings for Arvind Kejriwal from the people of East Delhi. On April 28, Sunita Kejriwal ji will conduct a roadshow in West Delhi Lok Sabha, seeking blessings from the people of West Delhi for Arvind Kejriwal," Atishi said.
The Aam Aadmi Party leader has previously accused the ruling BJP of hatching a political conspiracy against her husband Kejriwal and has termed his arrest a 'strategy' by the saffron party.
"The BJP-led central government and its political weapon, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), arrested Arvind Kejriwal after the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections to prevent him from campaigning during the Lok Sabha elections," news agency ANI quoted Atishi as saying.

Sunita has earlier levelled strong allegations against the BJP-led centre stating that the government was making attempts to kill the AAP supremo in prison by not allowing him insulin in jail.
While addressing the 'Nyay Ulgulan Rally' by the opposition INDIA bloc, Sunita said, "Many people say politics is a very dirty thing, and it's true. There is a camera over his food, his every morsel is being monitored...He is a sugar patient, and he has been taking 50 units of insulin every day for the last 12 years. But he is not being given insulin in jail. They want to kill Delhi's CM."
She then read out Kejriwal's message from jail, elaborating upon vows made by AAP for the Lok Sabha polls.
"He (Arvind Kejriwal) has said if the INDIA bloc comes to power and is given the responsibility, we will all make India great. 'INDIA' is not just in our name, but in our hearts too," the former bureaucrat said.
