India slams USCIRF which accused India of violating religious freedom

Religious freedom

The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) thinks that secularism in India is under siege and India has been categorised as a 'tier-2 country'. It has been downgraded to the lowest rank possible.

Countries placed along with India are --North Korea, the world's most secretive state and prison masquerading as a country and China,a country with re-education camps for minorities,Iran,a nation which controls every aspect of its society and Pakistan --- a country which has left its minorities to die during this pandemic. India's equivalence to these regimes is outrageous.

But, for USCIRF the'steepest and most alarming deterioration' in religious conditions was in the largest thriving democracy in the world India.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has responded to these baseless charges and said that the panel is'biased and tendentious comments against India are not new... But on this occasion, its misrepresentation had reached new levels'

Describing the USCIRF's comments against India, "biased and tendentious" and "not new", the spokesperson said, "But on this occasion, its misrepresentation has reached new levels. It has not been able to carry its own Commissioners in its endeavour."

The government said that it regards it as "an organisation of particular concern and will treat it accordingly."
