India: BJP chief vows to ‘throw out’ Bangladeshi immigrants during rally in poll-bound Jharkhand

The chief of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Saturday (Nov 9) vowed to ‘throw out’ Bangladeshi immigrants from the eastern state of Jharkhand if voted to power during a campaign event in Palamu. JP Nadda, who is also the union health minister, stressed the children born to the ‘infiltrators’ following their marriage with local women will not be given tribal status.

"Every Bangladeshi will be thrown out of Jharkhand and along with that the way they marry tribal sisters and want rights on their tribal land, the children born from them will not be given any tribal rights," said the BJP national president. He also alleged that Jharkhand’s ruling JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha)-Congress coalition was taking no action against the infiltrators.

Describing the JMM-Congress government as "deceitful" and a "government of liars and thieves," Nadda said they failed to fulfil promises made to people, farmers and youth of the poll-bound state.

"They (JMM-Congress) had said that they would give unemployment allowance, they had said that they would give government jobs, they had said that they would provide financial help for the progress of women; did anything happen? This is a deceitful government; this is a government of liars; this is a government that supports thieves," Nadda remarked.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the JMM-Congress government was the most corrupt in the country, urging people to remove it from power.

"The Congress-JMM government is the most corrupt in the entire country. It needs to be changed. If you want to stop this corruption, uproot the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress government. Those who have stolen your money will not be spared," said Shah at a rally.

The union minister also reiterated that the BJP will deport all Bangladeshi infiltrators from the state after the formation of the government.

"The JMM-led coalition has laid out red carpet for Bangladeshi infiltrators, who settle in Jharkhand and grab tribal land, employment of youths and indulge in anti-national activities. Let the BJP regime form. They will be deported and not a bird will be allowed to cross the border," Shah said.

Jharkhand will go to polls in two phases starting November 13 and ending on November 20. The results will be out on November 23.
