The Delhi High Court has asked the Election Commission to file a detailed affidavit stating factual aspects of its decision on disqualification of the 20MLAsof the Aam Aadmi Party.

The twenty members of Legislative Assembly of the AAP had moved theDelhi High Court on January 23 against their disqualification.

In a huge setback to the Arvind Kejriwal-led party, the Election Commission's recommendation for thedisqualification of 20 AAP MLAs was approved by President Ram Nath Kovind on January 21.

The recommendation fordisqualification was issuedfor holding the post of parliamentary secretaries between March 2015 and September 2016, considered as holding an office of profit.

The next hearing in the case is scheduled for February 7.
