Thackeray took oath as Maharashtra CM today, putting an end to the month-long political impasse in the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray for taking oath as Maharashtra Chief Minister and said that he is confident that Thackeray "will work diligently for the bright future of Maharashtra".

PM Modi took to microblogging site Twitter and posted, "Congratulations to Uddhav Thackeray Ji on taking oath as the CM of Maharashtra. I am confident he will work diligently for the bright future of Maharashtra".

Thackeray took oath as Maharashtra CM, putting an end to the month-long political impasse in the state. Thackeray is the leader of the NCP-Congress-Shiv Sena alliance which has been named 'Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at Shivaji Park ground, which is located in Mumbai's Dadar, a ten-minute walk from the Shiv Sena Bhavan. Shivaji Park has a long association with the Shiv Sena. The 28-acres ground was the venue of the first public rally of Bal Thackeray in 1966.
