FIR lodged against man for making 'lewd' comments on Captain Anshuman Singh's widow

Delhi Police have launched legal action against a person living in the capital city for makinginappropriate and offensive remarks online about thewidowofCaptain Anshuman Singh who was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra - a gallantry honour.
The police filed the complaint, acting on a letter from theNational Commission for Women (NCW), which demanded the man's arrest and a comprehensive report within three days.
The FIR has been filed under the relevant sections ofthe Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and Information Technology Act, 2000, the police said.
Notably, the man made the comments on a picture of Captain Anshuman's wife,Smriti Singh, receiving the award from the president of India during a ceremony.The sleazy comment by the said man soon caught the attention of netizens who alerted the authorities.
NCW was the first official body to take note of the incident and instantly fired a letter to the police.The NCW stated that a man named Ahmad K, a resident of Delhi, made the comment that contravenes Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Captain Anshuman - the supreme martyr
Captain Anshuman was serving in the 26 Punjab Regiment as a medical officer in the Indian Army. He was stationed as a medical officer in Siachen during Operation Meghdootwhen he made the supreme sacrifice.
On the night of 19 July 2023, a short circuit led to a fire in an Indian Army ammunition dump at the camp where he was posted.
Captain Anshuman saw a fibreglass hut engulfed in flames and immediately acted to save those trapped inside. He successfully rescued four to five individuals, however, the fire soon spread to a nearby medical investigation room.While trying to save critical medical equipment, he laid down his life.

However, after Smriti received the award, Captain Anshuman's parents have alleged that their daughter-in-law had left them.
CaptainAnhuman's father, Ravi Pratap Singh and mother Manju Singh told news channel TV9 Bharatvarsh that they want the Indian Army’s next of kin (NOK) criteria to be changed.
They said that Smriti is getting the entitlements after their son's death and they have asked Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to change the NOK criteria so that other families like them don't suffer.
