Bihar minister has demanded that the film be screened first
As troubles around the release of Padmavati continues to grow, Bihar now has hinted at banning the film in the state if objectionable scenes are not removed from the film.
On Tuesday, Krishna Kumar Rishi, Bihar's art, culture, sports and youth minister has stated that the film will not be released in the state if objectionable scenes are not removed.
Bihar is the fifth state to show reluctance in releasing the controversial film. Earlier UP, Rajasthan and Punjab have made similar demands. Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh have already banned the film in their respective states.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court dismissed a petition Tuesday filed by lawyer Manohar Lal Sharma seeking a stay on the movie Padmavati. While dismissing the petition, the court took serious note of statements made about the movie by persons holding high office.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Padmavati features Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles. The film was scheduled to release on December 1, but the makers have postponed the release keeping in mind the current situation. The CBFC is also yet to give the film a certification.
