Madhya Pradesh fails to release Padmaavat in theatres

It was earlier decided that cinema halls would screen the film in theatres after the police assured cinema hall owners ample security for the film.
Even though Karni Sena has withdrawn its protest against Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat, the film did not release in theatres in Bhopal and Indore on Thursday. Members of the MP chapter of the fringe outfit watched the film late on Wednesday night and continued to oppose the film's content leading to protests.
It was earlier decided that cinema halls would screen the film in theatres after the police assured cinema hall owners ample security for the film.
In Bhopal, five cinema halls had agreed to screen the film but only in the evening. But after the cinema hall owners in Indore did not release the film, their counterparts in Bhopal also backed out.
The Karni Sena -- after over two years of protesting against the movie Padmaavat -- finally withdrew its protest on Friday, saying the movie glorifies Rajput valour.
Padmaavat starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, released worldwide on January 25th. Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan did not screen the film due to threats from Karni Sena.
