Delhi government on Saturday issued guidelines to provide free treatment to fire victims, acid burns and accident victims in the national capital.

"Guidelines issued for free & mandatory treatment of accident, acid burns and fire victims in all hospitals in Delhi. Delhi government will bear the cost", tweeted health minister Satyendra Kumar Jain.

In case of any injury related to thermal burn, road accident and acid burn taking place in Delhi and NCR, the victims would get cashless treatment.

The free treatment policy could only be claimed at registered nursing homes and private hospitals.

No document is required to present to the hospital by the patients to claim the treatment facility.

According to the new guidelines, nursing homes and private hospital registered under the Delhi Nursing Homes Registration Act, 1953 can not refuse to treat patients suffering serious injuries due to any reason whatsoever.

The reimbursement will be provided through Delhi government's 'Delhi Arogya Kosh'.

However, there is an eligibility criterion of domicile and income status that victim seeking free treatment needs to be in.
