COVID 19: Tamil Nadu and Delhi record more cases than Maharashtra

India reported11,929 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total toll to 3,20,922 on Sunday morning. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported 311 deaths in the last 24 hours, which has increased the death toll to 9,195.

Maharashtra has been one of the worst-hit states in the country till now. The state reported 3,390 new cases and 120 deaths, taking the toll to1,07,958, including 50,978 discharged, and 3,950 deaths.

Mumbai, the epicentre,reported 1,395 new cases and 79 deaths. Total number of cases in the city is now at 58,135, including 28,959 active cases, 26,986 recovered/discharged and 2,190 deaths, according toBrihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Out of these, 13 cases were from Dharavi. The slum area now has a total of2,043 cases, including 77 deaths.

Tamil Nadu reported1,974 more cases and 38 deaths, taking the total number of cases in the state to 44,661, including 19,676 active cases, 24,547 discharged and 435 deaths.

Delhi, the national capital, recorded the highest single-day spike with 2,224 new cases and 56 deaths in the past 24 hours. The total toll now stands at 41,182, including 15,823 recovered/discharged/migrated, 24,032 active cases and 1,327 deaths.

There are 242total containment zones in Delhi now; 67 zones have been de-contained till date, the state government reported.

Karnataka recorded 176 cases and 5 deaths. Total number of cases in the state is now at 7,000, including 2,956 active cases, 3,955 discharged and 89 deaths (3 due to non-COVID cause), according to theState Health Department.

Gautam Buddha Nagar, which reported few of the initial coronavirus cases in India, reported 70 new casestoday, taking the toll to935, including 510 cured, 413 active cases and 12 deaths.

389 more cases and 12 deaths were reported in West Bengal today. Total number of cases in the state is now at 11,087, including 5,060 discharged, 5,552 active cases and 475 deaths.

Punjab reported 77 new cases, taking the toll to140, including 2,356 recovered, 717 active cases and 67 deaths.

Rajasthan reported 293 new cases till Sunday night; the toll stands at12,694 and death toll to 292. Number of active cases stands at 2,835.

Haryana has reported 459 new cases and 10 deaths, taking the toll to7,208, including 3,003 recovered/discharged, 4,117 active cases and 88 deaths.
