'Chinese side also suffered casualties': Do not cross the border, says China to India

Amid border clash with Indian soldiers along the Line of Actual Control(LAC), China foreign ministry on Tuesday said that "Indian troops crossed the border twice on Monday provoking and attacking Chinese personnel, resulting in serious physical confrontation between border forces on the two sides."

Foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said that Beijing has lodged "strong protests and solemn representations to Delhi."

"We again solemnly request that India follows the relevant attitude and restrains its frontline troops," Lijian said, adding,"Do not cross the border, do not provoke trouble, do not take any unilateral action that would complicate the border situation."

Meanwhile, China's state-run Global Times said that "Chinese side also suffered casualties in the Galwan Valley physical clash".

The Indian army had earlier informedthat one of its officers and two soldiers were martyred during a "violent faceoff" on the border with China on Monday.

"During the de-escalation process underway in the Galwan Valley, a violent face-off took place on Monday night with casualties. The loss of lives on the Indian side includes an officer and two soldiers," the Army said in a statement while adding that "casualties suffered on both sides".

The Indian Army informed that senior military officials from both sides were currently meeting to defuse the situation.

The two sides have been locked in a standoff in the western Himalayas for several weeks
