Lok Sabha Election 2024 Result: The fate of 529 constituencies has been decided and with only 14 constituencies left, India's mammoth election exercise has almost winded up. Let's take a look at some of the prominent names that left the dance of democracy with a broken shoe:
- Smriti Irani, of the BJP, lost from Uttar Pradesh's Amethi Lok Sabha constituency. She was optimistic about winning this seat. Congress' Kishori Lal Sharma won the seat.

— ANI (@ANI) June 4, 2024 - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has conceded in the Faizabad constituency, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ram Mandir in January, unofficially kicking off his campaign for this year's general election. Awadhesh Prasad of the opposition Samajwadi Party defeated BJP's Lallu Singh, shocking the governing party, which had used the huge Hindu temple as a campaign weapon. - Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah lost to an independent candidate Sheikh Abdul Rashid, also known as Engineer Rashid in the Baramulla seat at the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
- Mehbooba Mufti, president of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), was defeated in the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha constituency by NC leader Mian Altaf of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference. (Also read: Jammu and Kashmir Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: Full list of winners)
- Congress candidate Bhupesh Baghel, the former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, lost the Rajnandgaon constituency toBJP's Santosh Pandey.
- Maneka Gandhi, the BJP candidate, lost the Sultanpur seat to Rambhual Nishad of the Samajwadi Party by 43,174 votes.
- Kanhaiya Kumar, a Congress candidate and former President of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU), lost the North East Delhi Lok Sabha seat toBJP's Manoj Tiwari.
- Ajay Mishra Teni, a union minister and BJP candidate, lost the Lakhimpur Kheri Lok Sabha seat to Utkarsh Verma of the Samajwadi Party by 34,329 votes.
- In West Bengal's Bahrampur constituency, Congress candidate Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury lost by more than 85,000 votes to TMC leader Yusuf Pathan.
- Dilip Tirkey (BJD), a legendary former hockey captain, lost in his home seat of Sundargarh against former Union minister Jual Oram of BJP.
- Union Tribal Affairs and Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda lost the Khunti Lok Sabha seat to Congress candidate Kalicharan Munda by 1.49 lakh votes.
- Union Minister and Muzaffarnagar BJP candidate Sanjeev Balyan lost by more than 24,000 votes against Harendra Singh Malik of the Samajwadi Party.
- K Annamalai of the BJP was defeated by DMK candidate Ganapthy Rajkumar P in the Coimbatore constituency.
- Congress candidate from Mandi,Vikramaditya Singhwas defeated byBJP's Kangana Ranaut, who was also making her BJP debut this election season.
- Rajeev Chandrashekhar, the Union Minister and BJP candidate from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha district lost to Congress leader Shashi Tharoor.
