Raghav Chadha alleges bogus voting by BJP workers in South Delhi

AAP's South Delhi candidate Raghav Chadha said on Sunday that voting in the city-state was a positive sign for his party but the BJP workers had done 'bogus votes' in Sangam Vihar during the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha election. He

also alleged that police and the Election Commission officials helped the BJP in manipulating voters.

Chadha said, "BJP worker are sitting outside the polling station and they are forcing people to vote for the BJP. The police are helping them by providing them with fruit juices."

West Bengal BJP leader Mukul Roy's convoy searched; cries foul

BJP leader Mukul Roy has accused Mamata government of acting out of political vendetta after his convoy was searched by police.

He said the police was acting like "stooges of the state government".

"All of a sudden some police officers came in front of my vehicle and told me that they were going to search my car. I told them they had every right to search but let the press people come," he said.

Pink booths in Delhi

North East RO says it drew lot of Muslim women voters. 'Nari Shakti' was on display in the all-women staffed booths in Delhi Sunday which drew more women voters, especially from the Muslim community, officials said.

In a first for the city, as many as 17 all-woman staffed booths have been established for the Lok Sabha elections in the seven constituencies of Delhi, where from presiding officers to ground staff, all are women.

Attack on BJP West Bengal candidate 

The BJP Sunday termed the attack on its candidate Bharati Ghosh in West Bengal an "act of frustration" by the ruling Trinamool Congress in the state and claimed that the days of the Mamata Banerjee government are numbered.

The party also demanded that the Election Commission take suo motu cognisance of matter.

Oldest voter of the national capital

111-year-old Bachan Singh, exercised his franchise on Sunday as all the seven seats in Delhi polled in the sixth round of national polls.

"I have cast my vote to the party which inclined towards development and work," wheelchair-bound Singh told ANI at a booth in Sant Garh.

Polling in Haryana

Voter turnout of 39.16 per cent was recorded till 2 pm in ten Lok Sabha seats of Haryana on Sunday, with Kurukshetra and Hisar constituencies witnessing brisk polling.

Polling began Sunday at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm in the 10 parliamentary constituencies which are going to polls in a single phase, officials said.

The poll percentage recorded till 2 pm for the ten seats was 39.16 per cent, poll officials said.

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, accompanied by Congress Delhi chief Sheila Dikshit, cast her vote at Delhi's Nirman Bhavan on Sunday. Her son, Rahul, cast his vote earlier in the day.

* 59 Lok Sabha constituencies across 7 states headed to polls.

* Over 1.13 lakh polling stations in place for smooth conduct of polls

* In the last five phases, 424 out of 543 seats have already gone to polls.

* Percentage-wise, 78 per cent seats have undergone the electoral exercise till the fifth phase

BJP worker Raman Singh found dead in West Bengal ahead of sixth phase Lok Sabha polls

Ahead of the sixth phase of Lok Sabha polls on Sunday, BJP worker Raman Singh was found dead in Gopiballabpur, Jhargram in West Bengal.

A day after, two other BJP workers  Ananta Guchait and Ranjit Maity were shot at in Bhagabanpur, East Medinipur.

Over 10.17 crore voters across seven states will decide the fate of 979 candidates by casting their votes on May 12.

A triangular contest in Delhi as it goes to polls today

The stage is set as the national capital goes to Lok Sabha polls today where the incumbent BJP, Delhi's ruling AAP and the Congress are locked in a fight on all seven seats.

The Congress is looking to bounce back after ending up at the third spot in the 2014 elections.

The lead up to the polls has not been without drama, with allegations and counter-allegations flying, and it had all the trappings of a soap opera that could give the daily shows a run for their money.

The seven seats will see 164 candidates battling it out of which 18 are women.

Prominent among them are former chief minister Sheila Dikshit from northeast Delhi, BJP's incumbent MP Meenakshi Lekhi, who is contesting from New Delhi, and Atishi.

More than 60,000 security personnel, including the Home Guards and paramilitary forces, have been deployed across the city a day before the Lok Sabha elections in New Delhi.

Re-polling to be held today at 168 polling stations of Tripura West constituency and 1 polling station each of Puducherry, Barrackpur, & Arambag parliamentary constituencies.

6th phase of voting for 59 parliamentary constituencies across Bihar, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Delhi to be held today.

The fate of several Union ministers including Radha Mohan Singh, Harshvardhan and Maneka Gandhi, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leaders Digvijay Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia will be decided Sunday in the sixth and penultimate phase of Lok Sabha polls to be held in 59 constituencies in six states and Delhi.
