<p>The power to vote is an important part of a democratic country like India. These elections hold great importance, and the results will impact every Indian. That’s why it’s essential to vote.</p>

<p>Here are few reasons why you should vote:</p>

<h2>It's your right:</h2>

<p>India’s legislatures and parliaments are elected by, for, and for the people. Each and every citizen is fortunate to have the constitutional right to vote. We often overlook it, but the constitution ensures our right to vote for the candidates of our choice and to reconsider our decisions.</p>

<h2>Your vote can bring a change:</h2>

<p>Your vote has the potential to make a significant difference by voting for a better government. If people do not vote, the same party will be in power for another five years. Finally, if the country is left with a bad administration, it is the people's fault for voting incorrectly or not voting at all.</p>

<h2>Your vote counts:</h2>

<p>Each and every vote counts. As the mindset shifts away from the belief that ‘my vote doesn't matter,’ increased participation in voting can significantly impact outcomes. The responsibility rests on each individual to contribute to bring a change.</p>

<h2>NOTA:</h2>

<p>The Indian government has introduced an option for voters who are dissatisfied with all candidates on the ballot. NOTA, which stands for "None of the Above," provides&nbsp;option to individuals to not vote for anyone by pressing the button.&nbsp; When opting for NOTA, voters signify that none of the candidates meet their criteria.</p>

India: AAP to launch election website on Wednesday

With only a few days left for the Indian general elections, political parties and candidates are making full use of social media. However, it looks like a few of them have landed in trouble because of this the country's Election Commission has issued directives through social media platform X (Formerly known as Twitter) to take down several election-related posts.

Lok Sabha elections 2024: X takes down political posts after orders from ECI

Next up we get you a quick Roundup of the latest developments coming in from the Indian political landscape as India heads to the poll on the 19th of April: Less than 48 hours to go for the first phase of elections in India. Political parties and their star leaders are pulling out all the stops on the last date attempting to woo the voters.

Lok Sabha elections 2024: Campaigning ends for Lok Sabha polls phase 1

In today's digital world, India is rapidly emerging as a frontrunner. On pollnomics today, we delve into the key factors driving this growth. We explore India's rise in digital services outsourcing, the transformative power of the digital India programme, and the exciting potential of emerging technologies in shaping the nation's digital future.

Ai, blockchain, & internet shaping India's digital landscape

<p>Elon Musk's social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has taken action to block several posts in India containing "political speech shared from elected politicians, political parties, and candidates for office."</p>

<p>While taking the action, X in a statement late Tuesday (Apr 16) said, "In compliance with the orders, we have withheld these posts for the remainder of the election period; however, we disagree with these actions and maintain that freedom of expression should extend to these posts and political speech in general."</p>

<p>"We have notified the affected users and in the interest of transparency, we are publishing the takedown orders here. We call on the Election Commission to publish all of its takedown orders going forward."&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>What did ECI say?&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>The election body of India reportedly said that the posts in question were in breach of Clause (2) of Part I of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), guidelines issued by the ECI to ensure free and fair elections.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the Clause (2),&nbsp;“Criticism of other political parties, when made, shall be confined to their policies and programme, past record and work. Parties and Candidates shall refrain from criticism of all aspects of private life, not connected with the public activities of the leaders or workers of other parties. Criticism of other parties or their workers based on unverified allegations or distortion shall be avoided.”</p>

<p>The election body also mentioned that the posts violated paragraph 9 (iii) of the Commissioner’s advisory to all national and state-recognised political parties on March 1, 2024.&nbsp;“No aspect of the private life, not connected with the public activities, of the leaders or workers of other parties is to be criticised. Low level personal attacks to insult the rivals shall not be made," it read.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It's notable that such decisions are ultimately within the prerogative of respective countries. Moreover, the posts were both by the ruling and the opposition parties.&nbsp;</p>

Elon Musk's social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has taken action to block several posts in India containing "political speech shared from elected politicians, political parties, and candidates for office." While taking the action, X in a statement late Tuesday (Apr 16) said, "In compliance with the orders, we have withheld these posts for the remainder of the election period; however, we disagree with these actions and maintain that freedom of expression should extend to these posts and political speech in general." "We have notified the affected users and in the interest of transparency, we are publishing the takedown orders here. We call on the Election Commission to publish all of its takedown orders going forward." What did ECI say? The election body of India reportedly said that the posts in question were in breach of Clause (2) of Part I of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), guidelines issued by the ECI to ensure free and fair elections.
