Bayern Munich transfer news: German giants agree deal with Crystal Palace for Michael Olise switch
Bayern Munich are reportedly moving closer to signing Crystal Palace attacker Michael Olise as he moves a step closer to joining the German giants. Olise, who has been a standout player for Palace in the Premier League for the last two seasons had attracted interest from Chelsea and Newcastle United but will now move to the Bayern, despite a new deal being offered. Olise’s arrival could be a huge boost for the side who ended the season with no trophies last term for the first time in over a decade.
Olise to Bayern?
According to prominent football journalists, Bayern will reportedly pay a sum of $60m for the services of the 22-year-old. He will be a big addition to the midfield and a perfect replacement for Leon Goretzka who is linked with a move away from the club. While the playmaker’s 2023-24 season was hampered with injuries he still ended up scoring 10 goals in 19 matches in the Premier League. However, it was the 2022-23 season where he made his mark having missed only one Premier League match and was an ever-present in the midfield for Palace.
He will join Vincent Kompany’s roster as he prepares to take charge of the side in the coming days. Bayern’s transfer deals with London clubs in recent times have been the highlight reel having signed Harry Kane in the summer of 2023 which was followed by Eric Dier’s switch in the winter as both arrived from Tottenham Hotspur. As things stand, they are also moving closer to a deal to sign Joao Palhinha from another London-based club Fulham.

Under new management, Bayern will be pushing for a fresh start having lost the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen in the 2023-24 season. The German giants finished third in the Bundesliga and will not play in the DFL Super Cup at the start of next season. They will be eying a revival under Kompany who was announced as the new Bayern boss in May, despite facing relegation with Burnley.
The 2023-24 season was also the first since 2011-12 when the German side ended a season without a trophy. They reached the Champions League semifinal having beaten Arsenal on their way to the last four. However, a controversial call in the final minute of the Champions League semifinal second leg saw them face elimination against Real Madrid.
