The trailer of Abhay Deol starrer 'Jungle Cry' was unveiled at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival 2019 on Sunday. Helmed by Sagar Ballary, the film is a biopic based on Rugby coach Rudraksh Jena's life.
Deol will be seen playing Jena's character in the film that narrates the story of tribal kids who learn rugby from scratch and within four months manage to win the junior World Cup in the UK in 2007. The film is based on a true incident.
Overcoming many challenges, Dr Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT University and KISS had sent 12 tribal boys under 13 years of age in KISS Rugby Team to participate in the World Cup in London.
The KISS rugby team not only won the Champions Trophy but also attracted special attention from rugby fans across the globe. Deol also shared the poster of the film on his Instagram page.
The film also focusses on how Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences made the sport popular among the tribals and how the team created a mark for itself in the international arena. The film 'Jungle Cry' will be releasing later this year in India. The film also stars Atul Kumar and Emily Shah in key roles.
