Actor Chiranjeevi dined with the Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah on Thursday evening after the veteran actor was honoured with Padma Vibhushan earlier in the day. The ceremony was also attended by the actor’s wife Surekha, children Ram Charan and Sushmita and daughter-in-law Upasana Konidela.
Later at night Shah hosted a dinner party at his residence for all the Padma awardees and Chiranjeevi along with his family were present at the event.
A photo from the private dinner was shared online that shows Chiranjeevi and Ramin a candid moment with the Union minister.
News agency ANI also shared a video of the Padma awardees chatting away at the dinner hosted at the minister’s residence.
Chiranjeevi returns to Hyderabad
Chiranjeevi returned to Hyderabad on Friday evening and spoke to the press at the airport. He said, “I would like to thank everyone from my directors and co-stars to producers for having a hand in me getting a Padma Vibhushan today. It’s years of hard work, and I’m glad the government recognised that. Putting aside my philanthropic ventures, the people who love me got me here.”
Several Telugu actors, over the years, have expressed their opinion on how the late actor-politician Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao deserves a posthumous Bharat Ratna. When Chiranjeevi was asked about the same, the actor said, “I also believe NTR deserves a Bharat Ratna, just like MGR (MG Ramachandran). I hope the government considers it, and I look forward to it becoming a reality.”
