ICC Test Rankings: Rohit returns to top 5, Kohli and Jaiswal move up

In the updated list of ICC Test Rankings for batters, India captain Rohit Sharma has returned to the top five. Rohit, is, thus, the highest-ranked Indian batter in the list, with Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal also moving up in the batting chart ahead of India's hectic Test season, which commences with the two-match Test series versus Bangladesh at home.

In the updated list, England's Joe Root continues to be at the No. 1 spot with 899 points. He ended the three-match Test series between England and Sri Lanka, at home, with most runs (375), including two centuries. While there are no Sri Lankan batters in the top-10, the likes of Test captain Dhananjaya de Silva, middle-order batter Kamindu Mendis and opener Pathum Nissanka also witnessed a significant rise following their productive series in England, which the Asian side lost 2-1. De Silva now occupies the 13th spot, moving up by three places, whereas Nissanka -- who made an unbeaten 127 not out in his side's 219-run chase in the third and final Test at The Oval, London -- moved to the 39th spot, achieving a gain of 42 positions. Meanwhile, Mendis -- who ended with most runs by a Sri Lankan batter (267) in the England series -- now holds the 19th spot (gaining six positions). Both Mendis and Nissankaalso find new career-best ratings on the list for Test batters.

Talking about the top five, the likes of Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, and Steve Smith are also part of it, occupyingthe second, third and fourth positionsrespectively.
