"The Philippines has repeatedly provoked and caused trouble, violated the temporary arrangements between China and the Philippines,"&nbsp;China Coast Guard spokesperson Gan Yu said while&nbsp;referring to the Philippines’ supplies missions to a vessel grounded on the Second Thomas Shoal.

Manila has refuted Chinese claims.

The Philippines said that two of its coast guard vessels "encountered unlawful and aggressive manoeuvres" from Chinese vessels near Sabina Shoal while on their way to supply Filipino personnel stationed in two occupied islands.

"These dangerous manoeuvres resulted in collisions, causing structural damage to both PCG vessels," said Jonathan Malaya, a spokesperson for the National Security Council and Manila's South China Sea task force.

Earlier, China and the Philippines reached a "provisional agreement" in July after repeated faceoffs near the Second Thomas Shoal.

“Banks were robbed with full political patronisation. And the State coffer was plundered by abusing power,” Yunus said, adding that they will also make sincere efforts to promote national reconciliation.

"In their efforts to stay in power, Sheikh Hasina's dictatorship destroyed every institution of the country. The judiciary was broken. Democratic rights were suppressed through a brutal decade-and-a-half long crackdown," United News of Bangladesh quoted Yunus as saying through his Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.

Yunus also briefed diplomats stationed in Dhaka for the first time since the interim government's inception.

Yunus said he took over a country that was in many ways a complete mess. He&nbsp;added that the top priority of the interim government would be to bring the law and order situation under control.

"We will be close to normalcy within a short period, with the unwavering support of our people and patriotic armed forces," Yunus said.

He sought the international community’s support to rebuild Bangladesh.

On the Rohingya issue, he said the interim government will continue to support the million-plus Rohingya people sheltered in Bangladesh.

"We need sustained efforts of the international community for Rohingya humanitarian operations and their eventual repatriation to their homeland, Myanmar, with safety, dignity and full rights," Yunus said.

Nepal's foreign ministry described the trip as an opportunity to further consolidate the long-standing, deep, and multifaceted ties between the two South Asian neighbouring countries.

India's Ministry of External Affairs reiterated that Nepal is a priority partner in India's "Neighbourhood First" policy.

"This visit will provide both sides with an opportunity to discuss and review the progress in bilateral cooperation, helping to advance our ties further," the ministry said in a statement from New Delhi.

In yet another show of Canada's patronage of anti-India separatist activities, dozens of pro-Khalistan protestors disrupted the India Day Parade in Canada’s Toronto on Sunday (August 18) as they created tensions during the Independence Day celebrations organised by the Indian diaspora.

A viral video on social media captured the purported clash between the pro-India and anti-India groups who came face to face in Toronto over the weekend. WION could not independently verify the video.&nbsp;

Canada: Khalistan supporters disrupt Indian Independence Day celebrations

Gaza has recorded its first polio case in 25 years, the Palestinian health ministry said on Friday, after UN chief Antonio Guterres called for pauses in the Israel-Hamas war to vaccinate hundreds of thousands of children.

Tests in Jordan confirmed the disease in an unvaccinated 10-month-old from the central Gaza Strip, the health ministry in Ramallah said.

According to the United Nations, Gaza, now in its 11th month of war, has not registered a polio case for 25 years, although type 2 poliovirus was detected in samples collected from the territory's wastewater in June.

"Doctors suspected the presence of symptoms consistent with polio," the health ministry said. "After conducting the necessary tests in the Jordanian capital, Amman, the infection was confirmed."

The case emerged shortly after Guterres called for two seven-day breaks in the Gaza war to vaccinate more than 640,000 children.

Poliovirus, most often spread through sewage and contaminated water, is highly infectious. It can cause deformities and paralysis, and is potentially fatal. It mainly affects children under the age of five.

The UN health and children's agencies said they had made detailed plans to reach children across the besieged Palestinian territory and could start this month.

But that would require pauses in the 10-month old war between Israel and Hamas, they said.

"Preventing and containing the spread of polio will take a massive, coordinated and urgent effort," Guterres told reporters at UN headquarters in New York.

"I am appealing to all parties to provide concrete assurances right away guaranteeing humanitarian pauses for the campaign."

The World Health Organization and UN children's fund UNICEF said they were planning two seven-day vaccination drives across the Gaza Strip, starting in late August, against type 2 poliovirus (cVDPV2).

Last month, it was announced that type 2 poliovirus had been detected in samples collected in Gaza on June 23.

Due to her injuries, she was unable to continue her scheduled flight duties, and a fellow crew member remained with her for support.

Concerns about safety at the hotel had been raised by Air India staff before the incident.
