The closing date for applications was August 2, with Carsley named interim boss on August 9.

<h2>Babar’s form a worry for him and Pakistan</h2>

Babar hasn’t played his best cricket in a very long time, with Pakistan facing subsequent challenges, the latest being losing a Test match on the flat Multan wicket against England.&nbsp;

Though the English pair of Joe Root and Harry Brook amassed 262 and 317 runs, respectively, in the only inning they batted in, Babar could score just 35 runs across two innings, beaten on the inside edge in the first inning and outside in the second.

It’s been 18 innings since Babar crossed a fifty-run mark, with his average reading just 21 in nine Tests since 2023.

Meanwhile, Babar is not the only one to face repercussions, with spinner Abrar Ahmed, who was hospitalised during the first Test, is highly unlikely to recover. Reflecting on how Sanju paced his innings and even at a time when he could have carefully got to his century, he smashed one for a boundary, doing it fearlessly and selflessly, Suryakumar said the same approach is what he wants from his team, something the head coach Gautam Gambhir also echoed in the dressing room earlier.

"I think we have achieved a lot as a team," Suryakumar said during the post-match presser.&nbsp;

"Most importantly, as I said at the start of the series, I want to have selfless cricketers in my team. We want to be a selfless team, and as Hardik [Pandya] said, we want to just enjoy each others' performance on the field and off the field and spend as much time as possible, and that camaraderie is carrying on the field, and we're having some fun."

"The chat around the team has been like that. Gauti bhai said the same thing at the start of the series and when we went to Sri Lanka as well: 'No one is bigger than the team'. If you're at 99 or 49 or anything, if you feel you've to hit the ball out of the park for the team, you have to hit it, and Sanju did the same thing. Really happy for him,” he continued.

<h2>‘Flexibility benefitting us’&nbsp;</h2>

Suryakumar also stressed on players being flexible with their roles in the T20I team. With most of the top players rested for Bangladesh T20Is, the Indian Team had several debutants and emerging players in the XI in the three contested matches, with SKY dictating terms on what is needed out of whom.

"We've to be very flexible when it comes to batting and bowling as well," Suryakumar said.&nbsp;

"Everyone has to chip in with few overs who can, and batters have to be very flexible. The way they showed it in the series was very commendable."

Unlike previous editions, the Hong Kong Sixes 2024 tournament will feature 12 teams outside India and arch-rivals Pakistan, including Australia, Bangladesh, England, Hong Kong, Nepal, New Zealand, Oman, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates.&nbsp;

The inaugural edition of the Hong Kong Sixes tournament was staged in 1992, with the last one played in 2017.&nbsp;

Over the years, several global superstars have participated in this one-of-its-kind event, including the likes of great Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Shane Warne, Wasim Akram, Shoaib Malik, Sanath Jayasuriya, Anil Kumble, Umar Akmal, Glenn Maxwell, Damien Martyn among others.&nbsp;

While India won this tournament 19 years ago in 2005, Pakistan, England and South Africa are among the most successful teams. Besides these, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Australia have won this tournament.

<h2>Hong Kong Sixes tournament rules –</h2>

So, what makes this tournament exciting for both the players and the fans? Let’s find out.

Two six-player teams participate in a game of five overs on each side. The final match, however, allows each team to bowl five overs, but with eight balls, two more than six in usual group matches.

Apart from the wicket-keeper, each player of the fielding team will have to bowl one over, while extras like the wides and no-balls count as two runs, one more than what is counted in normal games.

In case the batting team loses five wickets before the stipulated overs are finished, the last batter will continue batting, with the fifth batter acting as a runner. The final batter will be on strike till he gets out or the innings is concluded.

Each batter is forced to retire at a score of 31; however, he can return after all other batters are dismissed or retired.

<h3>Hong Kong Sixes tournament schedule –</h3>

The 12 participating teams will be divided into four pools of three sides, competing in a round-robin format.&nbsp;

The top two teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals, with the winners in the Super Eight stage entering the Cup semifinals and the losers participating in the Plate semifinals.

Meanwhile, the bottom-placed team in each pool will play the Bowl Competition.

A total of 29 matches will be played in the three-day tournament.

Besides, a Women’s Exhibition Match will also take place on November 3 (the last day) to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

India will face Pakistan on November 1 at 11:30 AM IST, while their next match will be against the UAE on November 2 at 6:55 AM IST.&nbsp;
