The Business Advisory Committee meeting of the Lok Sabha was held on Monday when the monsoon session of Parliament began. According to sources, a discussion on Operation Sindoor is likely to begin next week, with 16 hours allocated to the Operation after a consensus was reached. Oppositon parties have been demanding presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the debate on Operation Sindoor. As per sources, since PM Modi will be embarking on a two-nation tour of the United Kingdom and the Maldives from July 23 to July 26, the discussion on Operation Sindoor is likely to take place next week. Sources further added that the Telugu Desam Party, a BJP ally, raised the issue of a debate on the 50th anniversary of the Emergency. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi told reporters that the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor were not included in the agenda and said the government should clarify its stance for a discussion. "Various parties had requested that a special session be called on Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor. The government rejected the demand for a special session, and now, even in the monsoon session, they are not discussing Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor. We are disappointed with the BAC (Business Advisory Committee) meeting held today, because the agenda consisted of the government's bills. Even in this, Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor were not included. The government should clarify which day they will hold this discussion. It is being mentioned that the Prime Minister is going on a foreign tour, and I believe that is important, but today we were meeting for the first time for the monsoon session. Could the discussion not have happened today? Or could it not happen tomorrow? The government should clarify when it will hold the discussion," he said. BJD MP Sasmit Patra expressed hope of reaching a consensus in Tuesday's meeting on the discussion of Operation Sindoor. "For the Business Advisory Committee meeting, there was allocation of time relating to specific areas of the business that would be coming in. As regards the 167 notice, for that, the time allocation has not been done. Tomorrow, we will have a meeting. Hopefully, we will be able to reach a conclusion regarding when the discussion on Operation Sindoor and related areas will take place. The meeting is scheduled at 1 pm tomorrow and hopefully, we will have clarity on that," he said. Revolutionary Socialist Party MP NK Premchandran told ANI, "It is a good thing that the government is ready to discuss this (Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor) because it is a very important and sensitive national issue; because US President Donald Trump is continuously making statements that insult India's sovereign character, which should also be discussed. We are demanding that the Prime Minister come to the House and make a statement, answering the Opposition's questions." Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is recovering at home after being diagnosed with intestinal inflammation caused by spoiled food, his office announced on Sunday. He was examined overnight by Prof Alon Hershko of Jerusalem's Hadassah-Ein Kerem Medical and is receiving treatment with intravenous fluids for dehydration. His condition is described as good. Following doctors' orders, Netanyahu will rest at home for the next three days while continuing to conduct state affairs. The incident up follows a series of health issues for Netanyahu, 75, including a routine colonoscopy in May and prostate surgery in December. Both times, Justice Minister Yariv Levin served as acting Prime Minister while Netanyahu was sedated. In March, Netanyahu underwent hernia surgery under full anesthesia and later missed work due to the flu. In 2023, he had a pacemaker implanted after doctors diagnosed a long-standing heart conduction problem. That surgery came days after he was hospitalised for dehydration, though doctors later linked the incident to an undiagnosed heart issue. Netanyahu's most recent public medical report, issued in January 2023, described him as in a "completely normal state of health," with no signs of arrhythmia and the pacemaker functioning properly. The document, however, was not an official government health report but rather a summary compiled by his personal medical team. Despite government protocols urging prime ministers to release annual health summaries, Netanyahu issued no such report between 2016 and 2023, and none has been released this year. Those protocols are not legally binding, and he cannot be compelled to disclose his medical history. Following the prostate surgery, Netanyahu made headlines when he left the Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center over the objections of his doctors to personally cast his vote over the "Trapped Profits Law." It passed by a vote of 59-58. Netanyahu was accompanied by his physician, Dr. Zvi Berkowitz in the Knesset plenum.

At least five people have died and several others remain missing after heavy rainfall triggered a series of cloudbursts and flash floods in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu and Kangra districts, officials said on Wednesday. The incidents occurred on Wednesday afternoon, prompting widespread damage across the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated heavy rainfall over Himachal Pradesh and neighbouring states between June 25 and July 1. An orange alert has been issued for June 29, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall and potential flash floods and landslides in districts including Una, Bilaspur, Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Kangra, Chamba, Kullu, and Mandi. The IMD added that light to moderate rainfall is expected on June 26 and 27, with a brief improvement on June 28, followed by intensified showers on June 29 and 30. Locals and tourists have been advised to avoid riverbanks and slopes during this period. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said five people have died following cloudbursts at three locations and flash floods at nine locations across the state. He urged both residents and tourists to avoid venturing near rivers and nallahs during the monsoon season. According to the Himachal Pradesh State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), a cloudburst and sudden increase in the river's flow were reported near the Jiwa Trench Weir in Majhan Nallah around 1:41 PM on Wednesday. In Kullu, two people are missing, while in Kangra, three people were confirmed dead and five others remain untraceable. Fifteen houses near rivers and nallahs were damaged, and several village roads have suffered extensive destruction, the CM said. All the people affected in one of the incidents were working as labourers at a power project in Manuni, near Dharamshala. Among them are Chain Singh (20) from Kumaadi village in Doda district, Jammu & Kashmir; Aditya Thakur from Rakh village in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh; and Pardeep Verma (35) and Chandan, both from Sohanpur in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh. A fifth worker, Loveli, from Poona village in Chamba, was rescued safely. Three labourers Parmjeet, Nitin, and Bippan are still missing. In the Khaniyara incident, the fifth deceased has been identified as Sanjay, a resident of Pankura village in Nurpur, Kangra. Search and rescue operations are underway. NDRF Commandant Baljinder Singh said that rescue efforts are ongoing in extremely inaccessible areas. "Only the NDRF and SDRF teams are able to reach the site. So far, six people have been reported missing. One body has been recovered in a joint NDRF-SDRF operation," he told ANI. According to officials, around 250 people were successfully rescued, and two bodies were recovered during a search and rescue operation conducted on Wednesday by the SDRF, local police, and Himachal Pradesh Home Guard volunteers. On Thursday, the NDRF also joined the local authorities and recovered three more bodies, bringing the total number of recovered bodies to five. Out of these, four bodies have been identified, while three people are still missing. "One survivor was rescued from a nearby forest," officials said, adding that according to his account, he and some of his companions ran into the forest to escape the flash flood, but eight of his companions were swept away. Officials added that the situation has now improved, and no additional missing persons have been reported beyond those already accounted for. Earlier, three people went missing after a cloudburst near Jeeva Nallah and Rehla Bihal in Kullu's Sainj Valley on Wednesday afternoon. According to Kullu Deputy Commissioner Torul S Raveesh, five houses were also damaged. According to eyewitnesses, a cloudburst near a waterfall swept away three people and four houses. "The water flow was so intense that a one-megawatt power project was submerged and destroyed. NHPC's project and powerhouse were also shut down," said a local resident, Anmol. Another resident, Chaitram, added, "The flood swept away two women and a man. They are still missing. This has happened here before, too." In the Siund area of Sainj Valley, a private power project and NHPC's facility suffered heavy losses due to a flash flood. Temporary sheds and an emergency response vehicle were also destroyed. Meanwhile, in view of the worsening monsoon situation, the office of the Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, has issued a public advisory. "There is a significant risk in the area, which includes hilly terrain, fast-flowing rivers and a landslide-prone zone, heightening the danger of floods, landslides, and cloudbursts, posing a threat to life and property," it read. Authorities have urged citizens to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, especially near hillsides and rivers, and to monitor weather updates from the IMD and local authorities closely. Disclaimer: This story has been published from a news agency feed with minimal edits to adhere to WION's style guide.
