“This year, like every year, we state unequivocally: LGBTQI+ persons deserve recognition of their universal human rights and human dignity,” said the statement by Secretary of State Antony Blinken.&nbsp;

It added, “LGBTQI+ persons continue to face insidious forms of stigma and discrimination.”

At least 510 anti-LGBTQ bills were introduced in state legislatures across the US, which according to the data from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) was a new record.&nbsp;

The group’s report said that education and healthcare-related bills, particularly, flooded in at unprecedented levels.&nbsp;

Additionally, the ACLU also noted that there was a renewed push to ban access to gender-affirming health care for transgender youth as well as regulate discussions around gender identity and sexuality in public schools.&nbsp;

The Sunday Times rich list revealed that&nbsp;King's&nbsp;overall wealth is estimated to be more than $950 million owing to&nbsp;“holiday parks, inheritance and housing asylum seekers for the government”. His firm Clearsprings saw its profits after tax rising to $80 million in the year ending January 2023, a rise of more than 100 per cent compared to the previous year.

India's&nbsp;Hinduja brothers claimed the top rank in&nbsp;the rich list, with an estimated fortune of&nbsp;$47 billion, up from around $40 billion last year.

But overall, the number of billionaires in the country has fallen from 177 to 165, the largest in the&nbsp;UK's&nbsp;history.

According to Robert Watts, the&nbsp;compiler of the list, the fall shows the billionaire boom in the UK has&nbsp;come to an end.

“Many of our homegrown entrepreneurs have seen their fortunes fall and some of the global super-rich who came here are moving away,”&nbsp;he was quoted as saying by the Guardian.

“To make progress on these crises we must tackle inequality. The super-rich have spent centuries diverting wealth into their hands, making our democracy less responsive to&nbsp;people’s&nbsp;needs and damaging our communities. The result is we are poorer, sicker, less productive, unhappier, more polarised, and less trusting," added&nbsp;Nicholas.

We will return all our hostages, living and space alike. The Chinese coast guard "intensified on-site surveillance and evidence collection" on Thursday, according to China's official news agency Xinhua, following Philippine vessels that "illegally gathered" in seas close to Scarborough Shoal and participated in actions "unrelated to normal fishing operations".

The advance squad, according to Hizon, was part of the group's backup plan in case China cut off the main flotilla. He stated that the flotilla would return to port on Thursday after reaching a location around fifty nautical miles away from the shoal.

The fishermen, who had previously been provided by the advance team, had departed the region after being chased away by Chinese vessels, according to Hizon, thus the bigger flotilla was unnecessary.

On Wednesday, a Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) aircraft that was sent to Scarborough Shoal to keep an eye on the situation noticed 19 Chinese vessels—including one Chinese naval ship—in the vicinity. Additionally, the PCG said that it was keeping an eye on two floating obstacles near the shoal's southeast entrance.

The lawyers in such scenarios say that the couple is free to make decisions over custody and visitation arrangements. However, if the two parties go to court, the custody is awarded to one parent. The divorced parents have criticised the system and claimed that they have been estranged from their children due to the judgement. In 2019, a UN committee recommended that Japan "allow for shared custody of children when it is in the child's best interests, including for foreign parents". In joint custody, one parent will be able to make decisions without holding consultation with others on issues like health or schooling in "emergency circumstances". There are no official tallies which reflect the number of minors who are not connected to one of their parent in Japan, even though campaigns have been held both for and against the changes. As per a 2022 survey which was done by a support group for single mothers, it was discovered that 80 per cent of single parents in Japan were not in support of joint custody. "Even in cases of domestic violence, failure to prove it in court due to insufficient evidence can lead to joint custody being established," said campaigners against the move, in January. The findings were published as part of the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries and Risk Factors Study 2021. The study was published in the medical journal The Lancet on Thursday (May 16). Lead research scientist at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHMEE) at the University of Washington and research head Liane Ong said, "Future trends may be quite different than past trends because of factors such as climate change and increasing obesity and addiction." The biggest gains will be made by the countries which currently have lower life expectancies. "This is an indicator that while health inequalities between the highest and lowest income regions will remain, the gaps are shrinking, with the biggest increases anticipated in sub-Saharan Africa," stated IMHEE director Dr Chris Murray. According to the researchers, this trend is mostly driven by public health measures which have improved survival rates and prevented deaths from diseases like COVID-19, heart disease, and a range of communicable, maternal, neonatal, and nutritional diseases.
