It is worth mentioning here, China claims Taiwan as part of its territory and has branded 64-year-old Lai a dangerous separatist who will bring war and decline to the island.

Despite switching diplomatic recognition to Beijing in 1979, the United States remains Taiwan's strongest international partner and primary source of military equipment.&nbsp;

Last month, the US approved a significant military aid package for Taiwan, including $1.9 billion to bolster its defenses.

"If the ultimatum is not fully met, the IDF will launch an assault deep in Lebanese territory to defend the northern communities, including ground entry and Israeli military takeover of the southern Lebanese area," he warned.&nbsp;

"The way to bring the [evacuated] residents home to the north is through a military decision with a devastating assault on Hezbollah, its infrastructure and the destruction of its power," he added.&nbsp;

Since the defence minister demanded a clear strategy from Netanyahu, the Israeli government appears to be singing a different tune. Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said he would not agree to setting up a military government in the Palestinian enclave.&nbsp;

Two centrist former army generals in the cabinet, Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot, backed Gallant's call. But Smotrich and Internal Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir condemned the comments.&nbsp;

Gantz on Saturday even demanded a post-war plan, otherwise, he would quit the coalition. He asked Netanyahu to commit to an agreed vision for the Gaza conflict that would include stipulating who might rule the territory after the war with Hamas.&nbsp;

Gantz told a news conference that he wanted the war cabinet to form a six-point plan by June 8 and if his expectations were not met, he would withdraw his centrist party from the conservative premier's emergency government.&nbsp;

Israeli minister says Hezbollah must be dealt with military action if needed

There will be 15 days of land and sea exercises that would involve 760 Chinese Army personnel, around 1,300 Cambodians and 11 Cambodian vessels.

The Qijiguang carried a banner that read "Bring peace and friendship to meet good friends" as it progressed towards the port.

"We are ironclad friends," Chinese ambassador Wang Wentian told reporters on the shore, adding China-Cambodia military cooperation was "conducive to the security of both countries and to the security of the region."

China has been funding the refurbishment of a naval base at Ream, which was originally constructed using the funds contributed by the United States.

Earlier, two Chinese warships docked at Ream in the month of December for the very first time since the efforts began to extend the base.
