<p>The Israeli military confirmed on Thursday (Aug 1) that&nbsp;Mohammed Deif, the head of Hamas' military wing, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza last month. The confirmation comes a day after the terror organisation's political leader, Ismail Haniyeh&nbsp;was assassinated in Tehran.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) neutralised Deif in its attack on the city of Khan Yunis on July 13. Hamas at the time denied that Deif was dead and claimed that 100 other people had died in the attack.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The IDF announces that on July 13th, 2024, IDF fighter jets struck in the area of Khan Yunis, and following an intelligence assessment, it can be confirmed that Mohammed Deif was eliminated in the strike," the military said.</p>

<p>Deif is believed to be the mastermind of the gory October 7 terror attack on Israeli soil last year. Deif was Israel's most wanted man who gave the operation the name "Al Aqsa Flood" under which innocent civilians were killed and kidnapped.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Apart from Deif, it was&nbsp;Yehya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas in Gaza who&nbsp;planned the attack on Israel whose foundations were set in place after IDF carried out a raid on Al Aqsa mosque in May 2021.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Up until his death on July 13, Deif had survived close to seven Israeli assassination attempts with the most recent taking place in 2021.&nbsp;Deif rose through Hamas'&nbsp;ranks over 30 years, developing its network of tunnels and its bomb-making expertise.</p>

<p>"You have used words like 'animal' and 'rabid' to describe Black district attorneys. You've attacked Black journalists—calling them losers, saying the questions that they asked are quote, 'stupid' and 'racist'. "Why should Black voters trust you after you have used language like that?" Scott asked.</p>

<p>She called it the "elephant in the room" after expressing gratitude to Trump for attending and pointing out that many people believed he shouldn't be at the convention.</p>

<p>"First of all, I don't think I have ever been asked a question in such a horrible manner, the first question. You don't even say Hello! how are you? Are you with ABC? Because I think they are a fake news network and a terrible network. And I think it's disgraceful that I came here in good spirits. I love the Black population of this country. I have done so much for the Black population of the country, including employment...," Trump responded.</p>

<p>Trump's comments came in response to an interviewer asking if he agreed with Republicans who labelled Harris as a "DEI hire."</p>

<p>He said that Harris has always promoted her Indian heritage. She was only known for her Indian heritage. He said that it wasn't known to him that she was Black until a few years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"So, is she Indian or is she Black?" Trump asked.</p>

<p>Trump said that either one is respected by him, but not by Harris, because she was Indian all the way, and then suddenly, a turn was made and she became a Black person.</p>

<p>The NABJ's decision to interview Trump has caused anger among its members. While some believe Trump shouldn't be given a platform,&nbsp;others argue that voters need to see him as he truly is so that they can make an informed decision about supporting him. Considering Trump's efforts to win over Black voters, it is understandable why some see this interview as necessary.</p>

<p>JD Vance has courted controversy yet again for his old statements after US gymnast Simone Biles won a record eighth Olympics gold in Paris on Tuesday (Jul 31). Vance, the Republican vice president nominee had criticised Biles in 2021, when she pulled out of the Tokyo Olympics citing mental health issues.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the interview&nbsp;with <em>Fox News </em>dated July 2021, Vance called out the media for supporting Biles and making a hero out of her on quitting the biggest sporting tournament in the world.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
