'You're killing America': Man threatens to detonate bomb at US Capitol Hill

US Capitol Police is investigating an active bomb threat outside the Library of Congress in Washington.

The police department took to Twitter to warn the locals about the bomb threat and asked people to "please stay away from this area".

People who were present at the Cannon House Office building said they received an alert that asked them to immediately abandon the building and instead rush to the Longworth House Office Building for their safety.

Evacuation process was started as soon as the bomb threat was detected.

"We are monitoring this situation closely and will update this account as we get information we can release," US Capitol police said in a tweet.

Capitol Police has also asked the FBI to intervene and respond to the incident. In addition to this, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is also helping the Capitol Police in this incident.

The Congress, meanwhile, is currently on break.

A little after the threat was revealed, the Capitol Police reported that a man in a pickup truck was threatening to detonate a bomb on the Capitol Hill. "The driver of the truck told the responding officer on the scene that he had a bomb and what appeared, the officer said, appeared to be a detonator in the man's hand," Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger told reporters.

The man also live streamed the entire incident on Facebook as he demanded to meet the US President Joe Biden.

"I'm trying to get Joe Biden on the phone. I'm parked up here on the sidewalk right beside all this pretty stuff," said the bald-headed man with a salt-and-pepper goatee, wearing a white T-shirt and identified on the Facebook page as Ray Roseberry.

"I'm not hurting nobody Joe. I'm not pulling the trigger on this thing. I can't," he said. "I'm telling you, them snipers come in, they start shooting this window out, this bomb's going off."

The matter is under investigation right now.
