'Wonder Woman' Lynda Carter receives a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

The 66-year-old star has worked as an actress, singer, and pageant queen but is best known for her portrayal of feminist icon 'Wonder Woman' on the 1970s TV show of the same name.
While youngsters must only be aware of actress Gal Gadot who played the iconic female superhero Wonder Woman in2017, there is an actress before Gadot who made the role popular with the masses and made way for a bold, feminist character -- Lynda Carter.

Honouring her 50-plus years in show business, she received a star on the Walk of Fame on Tuesday.While receiving the star, Lynda gave her iconic Wonder Woman pose. The star was presented to her by CBS CEO Les Moonves.
She attended the ceremony with family and Patty Jenkins,director of 2017 film Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot. Speaking at the event, Patty said, “It was Lynda’s portrayal of Wonder Woman that made me fall in love with her because her Wonder Woman made me believe that I could have whatever I wanted, and even more importantly, it made me unashamed to want it. She wasn’t afraid to be soft while tough, she wasn’t afraid to be as loving as she was strong, she wasn’t afraid to love being a woman and celebrate her femininity, all while kicking ass and changing the world.”
The new Wonder Woman, Gadot, also paid tribute to Carter on Twitter, writing, “Thank you for your loving kindness shared by the sisterhood of women of wonder.”
