Watch: Wild scene on US border as 100 migrants hit guards and burst through razor wire

In a maddening chaotic situation, more than 100 migrants tried to enter the United States illegally by running towards the El Paso border wall on Thursday (Mar 21).

In this wild attempt, the migrants knocked over the guards and broke through the razor wire.

According to US media reports, nearly 600 migrants had gathered at the international border. There was a 'spring surge’ of migrants who were coming to the border with the hope of gaining access to the country.

Efforts were being made by the Texas National Guard to organise them into smaller groups, however, the situation became tense afterthe guardsmen separated some children and women from adult males.

In the video of the chaotic scuffle, migrants, especially men, were seen rushing to the Texas troops.

The men, wearing winter jackets, gloves and hoodies, pulled the fencing away and tried to gain entry through the concertina wire.

The guards were holding rifles and continued blocking the border for the migrants, even though they were heavily outnumbered.

Some guards even placed their hands on the migrants to push them back as the scene became more chaotic.

In the footage, some migrants were seen earlier putting their hands up for surrender and after some seconds, scrambling through and even trying to come through the legs of the guards and in the process, knocking them out.

Some migrants also started shouting at the guards at the border gate. “We have women and children, we’re hungry,” a migrant was heard screaming.

“Help, help, help, they’re kids,” someone else cried. Texas National Guard quickly tried to secure the area. “Get the f**k back,” yelled one guard, while trying to control the situation.

Some of those migrants were arrested and taken to the United States for legal proceedings, as per local media reports. Speaking to the local KFOX14 news station, border patrol agent Orlando Marrero said, “The migrants that we encountered here today at gate 36 will be taken to a processing centre.”

Texas on Tuesday (Mar 19) started the process of implementing SB4, which is a new law that empowers state and local authorities to arrest people for illegally entering the country. However, the measure was blocked by an appeals court hours after the Supreme Court gave the permission to bring the law into effect.
