Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Hafiz Talha Saeed has once again issued a threat to India, saying his outfit will bring jihad to Delhi. In a recent speech, the banned LeT leader also referred to the “legacy" of Muslim rule in the Indian subcontinent.

The UN-designated terrorist, who reportedly enjoys the backing of Pakistan’s military, said he was among those who had taken an oath to wage jihad, and pledged that this campaign would go on for as long as they had the strength to continue it. “We are those who took the pledge of jihad at the hands of the Noble Prophet Muhammad," Saeed said. “As long as we are alive and have strength within us, we will continue this jihad and keep offering these sacrifices," he added.

He also praised Pakistan's military leadership and claimed that Pakistan has a historic and religious role that stretches beyond its current borders.

Saeed on India's history

Saeed then turned to India's history, seemingly trying to frame the current political rivalry between India and Pakistan as part of a much bigger historical narrative. “Here, in this subcontinent, Muslims ruled for 500 years," he claimed.

He then went on to directly attack the Indian leadership based in Delhi and asked, “On what basis do the anti-Pakistan rulers sitting in Delhi speak today?" adding, “Have they forgotten history who Delhi belonged to, and to whom all these regions of India belonged?"

Saeed maintained that his remarks were based on what he called historical facts. “I am not saying anything contrary to history, or anything wrong, or anything against the facts," he said.
