UAE National Day 2022: The United Arab Emirates is celebrating its National Day on 2 December to mark the occasion of all seven emirates namely Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah into a single nation. In a bid to celebrate these special events and celebrations, the country is providing free parking facilities in two emirates Dubai and Sharjah. Sharjah National Park, Flag Island, Al Majaz Amphitheatre, Maliha Public Park, Al Hisn Island and Al Kharous in Dibba Al Hisn, Khorfakkan Amphitheater, Wadi Al Helo and other areas of Kalba, parks and residential areas in Al Bataeh, various areas of Al Madam, Al Dhaid Fort, and the Heritage Village in Al Hamriyah are hosting celebrations on the special event.

Over 1,000 Indian expatriates which includes students as well, participated in a jubilant rally held by Markaz Dubai as part of the UAE National Day 2022 celebrations. Dubai resident Satheesh Gopinathu had a unique way to celebrate as he ran past 51 landmarks in Dubai on the occasion of the 51st National Day. Gopinathu ran a total of 141 kilometres for 18 hours in a bid to achieve this amazing milestone.

The UAE Central Bank (CBUAE) on Friday introduced a new Dh1,000 banknote in honour of the country's 51st National Day that features images of some of the most significant events in recent history, including renewable energy and space research. The new Dh1,000 note honours not just the major achievements of the UAE in recent years but also the great vision that made them possible with pictures of Sheikh Zayed, the Hope Probe, and the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant.

A group of Abu Dhabi expats held up a huge UAE national flag balloon to commemorate the 51st National Day. The balloon was raised more than 10 metres into the air. Anil K. John, a longtime local who works in the Madinat Zayed Shopping Centre where the balloon is located, is the person behind the project.

On the occasion of the UAE National Day, low-cost airline Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has introduced a special promotional rate of Dh51. For reservations made on December 2 on travel between January 9 and February 28, 2023, the offer will be valid on 5,100 tickets for a specific number of flights to and from Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, the Fujairah emirate ruler said UAE has a distinguished legacy and country. He said everyone in the country has the right to celebrate and commemorate the past in the same manner as it witnesses national achievements.

He said, "On this national occasion, we affirm the Union’s principles that were established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the Founding Fathers, which are being continued by future generations to strengthen the nation, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai."

Sharjah Ruler Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi marked the UAE National Day by sending a message for the nation. He said that the National Day commemorates the day a great and aspirational nation eager to advance its ideals, religious ethics, and illustrious cultural legacy was born. “On this day, we commemorate the bright memory of the Founding Fathers, led by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his brothers, the Founders of the Nation, as well as their determination, wisdom, and vision that established the Union," he said.

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, termed the 51st UAE National Day 2022 a day to recall past lessons and look at the present with awareness and contemplation but at the same time guided the nation to look at the future with hope, optimism and confidence. The search engine giant on Friday celebrated the 51st National Day of the UAE with an animated Google Doodle depicting the country's flag waving in the breeze. When visitors click on the animation, fireworks in the UAE flag's colours of green, white, and black, which Google says "represent courage, prosperity, peace, and strength of mind," burst over the website. "On this day in 1971, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, Al Ain, Sharjah, and Umm Al Quwain united to form one country," reads the doodle.

Sharjah has announced a 50 per cent discount on traffic fines. The discounted cost is available to drivers from 1 December, 2022, until 20 January, 2023. For offences committed before 1 December, 2022, a reduced fine is applicable. The announcement was made as a result of a decision made by the Sharjah Executive Council to mark the 51st National Day of the UAE.

Al Safia Street in Ajman will be blocked for a few hours today as part of the UAE's 51st National Day 2022 parade, according to the police department. Today, December 1, from 2pm to 6pm, the parade will be held. The police recommended drivers to choose alternate routes at this time. The country's ruler often givespardons of a number of prisoners on important days. Prior to the UAE's 51st National Day, President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, ordered the release of 1,040 prisoners in the emirate. Essam Issa Al Humaidan, chancellor of Dubai, said the pardon reflects Sheikh Mohammed's desire to give convicted criminals a second chance at life and to cheer up their families. He continued by saying that this action is a result of tolerance, one of the nation's core values.

Celebrating the UAE National Day 2022, Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) has announced free entry to its museums. SMA will also be hosting an array of entertaining and educational activities for members of the public. It will be for people of all age groups. The UAE National Day and Commemoration Day holidays have been formally declared for 2022 by the UAE Cabinet. From Thursday, December 1 through Saturday, December 3, there will be a break. The UAE has a holiday on Sunday, therefore work won't be done until Monday, December 5. This would result in a four-day weekend for individuals who had Sunday off. At The Beach opposite to Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) is another happening area which is often frequented with tourists and Dubai residents. The Beach will host the firework show at 8:00 pm local time on Friday. Bluewaters Island, Al Seef, Dubai Festival City are another few places where one can enjoy the firework displays over the sky. The price is at AED200. Start time for the show will be 6 PM everyday. “The show will be open for everyone who calls the UAE home to experience the 51st National Day official public shows for nine consecutive days … in Abu Dhabi at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre,” the UAE National Day website said. It also added, “you can also watch the show live on December 2 on the UAE National Day official website and all local TV channels.”

The celebrations on UAE National Day are in full swing. Ahead of the special day, the 
seven emirates are organising concerts, engaging activities and fireworks. The streets are decked up with lights. In addition, the Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command has announced the National Day parade on December 1. The timings will be from 8am to 11am on the Qawasim Corniche.
