100 Iranian immigrants deported to their homeland by the Trump administration. Ever since he assumed office for his second, the US president has been keen on sending ‘aliens’ back home.
Around 100 Iranians have been deported to their homeland from the US. The Turmp administration is sending back a plane-load of people. News outlet The New York Times quoted senior officials in talks with a US official in charge of the plan. Ever since Trump assumed office for the second time in January this year, he has been stringent about deporting immigrants whom he calls ‘aliens’. According to Iranian officials, the plane carrying deportees took off from Louisiana on September 29 and was scheduled to land in Iran via Qatar. Deportation has been something the president has been keenly watching, and also been passing orders that will curb migration. From blocking borders to making visa applications a difficult process, the administration has incorporated additional checks.
In July, the US State Department has issued an advisory against travelling to Iran. Americans and Iranian-Americans in particular have been advised not to travel to the country as it doesn’t recognise dual citizenship. The notice informed, ‘Americans, including Iranian-Americans and other dual-nationals, have been wrongfully detained—taken hostage—by the Iranian government for months, and years.
